I have these and been using in our kitchen for a couple years. Think I paid around $22.99 and recently they were $24.99 in-store.

I'm pretty happy with them given their cost and build quality. I will agree the sensor to turn on/off and change dimming with your hand is a bit finicky, but for me it wasn't a deal breaker. The key is you wave the palm or top of your hand roughly <3" from the sensor to get it to work. Sometimes I would find myself carelessly waving my hand too far from sensor and it doesn't pick it up.

However, it is really responsive if you get within that range. Like just now I waved my hand with it like a half second under the sensor and pulled my hand away and it turned on/off, but again I was within 3" of the sensor.

Hope this helps you and others!

Anyone knows in-store price? Unfortunately lot of poor reviews around the motion sensor on these lights.

Can these be hardwired to power?

I have a few sets of these, one set on my garage cabinets and two sets in my office. These are great, love the ability to turn them off/on with a quick hand swipe under the sensor. My only gripe is you can only run three off one power supply, so if you have multiple cabinet runs you have to make sure you have outlets available to power them.

Have your kitchen looking like a Chemistry Lab, probably better suited for garage or basement

Things like that should just work, if there are special hoops you need to jump to turn it on (like waving to motion sensor), it became frustrating experience really quick. Physical button would probably be simpler.

Once you wave your hand and it picks it up, how long does it stay lit before turning off?

They stay lit as long as you have them on. No timer involved. I have mine on 24/7 with low dim during the night. Nice to have that lighting vs overhead. I suppose after months being on their could be a shutoff but I've not seen that happen. If they're off it's because I turned them off or someone else in the house did.

Mine are going on garage cabinets. I want to wave to turn them on and then they automatically turn off after like 20-30mins. Do you know if I can do that? Otherwise I'll probably hook them to a smart plug or return them and install smart LED strips.

Yep no timer. A smart plug would actually be a cool solution for that.

I have tried many under cabinet lights in several houses.

- If you can hard wire, useGE Enbrighten [amazon.com] with a Lutron motion sensor light switch. It is the top the line with lots of controls (color temp, dim etc). Compared to the contractor cost, the hardware is nothing.

- If you need to use a power adapter, go cheap and light weight like this one [amazon.com]. Pair with a motion plug [amazon.com].
