Probably caught 500+ fish on similar zebco stuff. It was all my grandfather bought as I'd destroy rods and reels as a youth.

The 202 looks very very similar to what I had used for years. Would definitely suggest to anyone looking to get into the hobby on an extreme budget. Next step up is the ugly stik combo for $45-50.

I have enjoyed using 33s and 202s - is the Slingshot as good as those reels? For the money, the 33 is about as good as you can get as far as being fairly dependable, and for $10 if the Slingshot is decent, that's awesome.

For little kids, yeah probably. For an adult, I personally would not recommend it. Spincaster style reels like this one are actually more complicated mechanically than a spinning reel.

I highly recommend the Ugly Stik Dock Runner to all fisherman from 5 years old until death. It's small enough to keep in your vehicle. I have about 30 rods with everything from 5' ultralight trout rods to 12' heavy surf rods and I still love this rod. It cast way further than the Shakespeare Dock Demon while being equally as durable. The reel isn't even terrible even though it's a cheap plastic.

I've used the Dock Demon spincast rod on kayaks, and those things are indestructible (the rods - the reels are pretty lame). I have been looking for some decent smaller semi-light rods for a couple of spinning reels I bought on ebay a few months ago. I may get a couple of these Dock Runners for the rods and switch the reels. Thanks!
