You'll love them. The Dock Runner are just a little longer than a Dock Demon which makes them way better to cast. The hybrid construction of Ugly Stiks also makes them far better to cast with than the solid fiberglass pole on the Dock Demons. Even though it's not refined, the included reel actually is totally fine for pan fish. I've caught hundreds on it.

Walmart has been coming through big time on the shipping lately - both of the Dock Runners came yesterday afternoon late. I'm very impressed with the rods, and I'm surprised at how decent the reels are for the money. I took the reels off and put a couple of Quantum reels on, so I'm hoping to get out tonight and do some fish hauling!

Nice, I love how it makes a fish feel bigger than it really is. If you hook into a 3+lbs. catfish, your going to make believe you are catching a shark.

It's the same logic of how being underbiked on a gravel bike is more fun than a $5000 mountain bike on a gravel trail, or how a Miata is more fun on a heavily policed twisty road than a $250K Porsche 911.

That's for sure! With the Quantum reels I have on the Dock Runner rod, I put 6 lb. line on them, but that Stren 6 lb. can haul in a lot of heavy stuff!

Would this be a good (affordable) option, for a 6 year-old boy to fish with? If not, would someone be willing to recommend (and link, if convenient) some good fishing pole kits, in the $15-$30 range? if so, I would genuinely appreciate it.
