Small but still designed to look like a gas car with too much high blocky hood length and almost no frunk utilization.
Polestar and Volvo could step away from traditional gas car design language. For this car you have a pointless for function long hood. You suffer inside because of that misplaced priority with the unnecessary limitation of back seat legroom and less wheelbase. An MG4 is the car to compare for current design of an ev. Good rear legroom. It's got a 2705mm wheelbase vs. 2650mm for this Volvo. 2 inches right there. 4287mm length vs. 4233mm for the EX30. The difference shows in the back door dimension.

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.

Made the reservation, $500 is refundable. Chose the single motor extended range over dual motor performance version. Customization will open in fall 23 and delivery will start in Summer 24. Essentially you are buying a Chinese electric car. At this point I don't mind it because as with everything else made in China, it will cost me less to buy it compared to an American or European car.

China rules EV,,,,Volvo is Chinese brand anyway! Good deal to make couple reservation ..Wish by the time there would be a lease option to take off another $75000 ....Bye Tesla!

Wipes the floor? The range is really bad compared to a Model 3 LR. I don't get why EV companies are coming out with these EV vehicles with such poor range. I guess if you only charge at home, but non Tesla chargers are horrible in the US right now and I would only buy a Tesla until the non Tesla charging network vastly improves in number of stations and reliability.
The majority of consumers in the US don't drive over 250 miles in a day in their car often enough to need to own a special car that can specifically do that. Those people that need that sort of range, there are plenty of cars for them available. Most consumers just want to drive to work and to the supermarket and take their kids to school. Then the once a year they need to go on a road trip they can take their spouse's car or rent a car.

Everyone agrees that using your touch screen phone while driving is dangerous and stupid.

EVs: Here's a big touch screen for you to use while you're driving.

Can't speak to how Volvos software works, but there's not much reason to ever "use" the screen in sense of needing to press buttons on it while driving a Tesla.

As mentioned earlier the steering wheel and stalks have some controls, and the few remaining things are easily doing via voice.

They're still some of the safest cars out there, though, built like tanks.

I don't know why I just looked up all these, but I did. It's a couple inches less tall and about a foot to foot and a half shorter than the other midsize gasoline SUVs on the market, and is positioned closer to the compact SUVs like the Kia Soul, Jeep Wrangler/Renegade and Mazda CX3. Good for maneuvering, less so for loading up with lumber or paddleboards.

Values in Freedom Units (inches)
Code:
EX30 167L x 72W x 61H

CRV 185L x 74W x 66H
HRV 180L x 72W x 63H
RAV4 181L x 73W x 67H
Escape 180L x 72W x 63H
Rogue 180 L x 72W x 63H
CX-5 180L x 73W x 66H
GLA 174L x 71W x ??H

Soul 165L x 71W x 63H
Renegade 166L x 74W x ??H
Wrangler 167L x 74H x ??H (2D version)
CX3 169L x 70W x ??H
It would be interesting to know if the shorter dimensions effect the interior space since there isn't as much room required for an engine.

You are making the lease reservation in order to get $7,500 credit, buy it at the end of the lease. This is the current work around for non US made battery cars. Hyundai and Nissan are also using this loophole.

Because every Tesla update has made it better and they have never ever removed features or made things worse, right?
https://electrek.co/2021/12/01/te...s-retrial/

And let's not forget the forced updates that automatically install themselves without the owner's consent.

I'm fine with OTA updates if they improve functionality or improve the user experience. I'm just saying that having to update more often just for the sake of updating isn't necessarily a benefit. I don't get excited every time Windows wants to install some unknown update, why would I get excited for my car to do the same?

EDIT regarding heat pump:

That article is referring to the UK/EU base model with a 51kWh battery, which won't be offered in the US.
IT's a double edged sword. They can change the car remotely for good or bad.

in the model 3 practically the whole back is glass so it is pretty easy to see. never driven a y though i thought it was the same. agreed on side mirrors tho. i'll have to look into wide angle ones. my biggest complaint with the 3 is i wish it had knobs for air and stereo like some other ev's i have seen. other than that, quite happy with it.
Y is a different beast. you have a lot more distance between the mirror and the rear window. it's like looking through a slit. not great but manageable. add some tall passengers and fuhgettaboutit. wish tesla did a camera like the bolt instead.
more buttons and knobs are definitely welcome.

I have a general question. Is there a disadvantage to buying a car after leasing? I mean is it about the same cost as buying upfront with a loan?

Also, can somebody tell me if you need your own charging cables at stations? Asking cause I'm not sure if I need to buy charging cables in case I decide to go with the Model 3. And, how do people living in apartments charge their cars?

You are thinking of the old Swedish owned Volvo......they ceased to exist in 1999 when they were sold to Ford... and then even moreso when sold in 2010 to Geely.

This car is designed by Geely, in China, where it's also manufactured....and then they slap a Volvo badge on it... the same Geely platform is also being sold as a Zeeker model and a Smart model as well in other countries.

And the safest cars on the road according to NHTSA are all Teslas-- lowest chance of injury of any vehicles they've ever tested.

https://electrek.co/2018/10/07/te...ury-nhtsa/

moot point. it's not like after they were bought out by ford then geely, they became rubbish quality and unsafe death traps.
in fact, I'd say after the geely acquisition, their styling and interior quality have gone up to. I was never attracted by the old boxy wagon designs but adore all the newer volvo's. especially the v60 wagon
furthermore, his use of market cap to gauge the quality of the car is just plain retarded.

There is no lease option....will see what would look like by the time delivery... Wish there is a lease option to enjoy $7500 off workaround
