I like this Axis derivative. My Axis has a body that I replaced with some not so expensive Humbuckers and it sustains more than a sustaniac. Its a bit heavy and the neck is thicker than a Les Paul. BTW the Sterling headstock is revolutionary because of the design which never needs string trees hence holds tune better. https://www.proaudiostar.com/ster...stock.html
I have several returned guitars this month. Various issues. Nothing huge. But aggravating nonetheless. Strat with two tuners with play in them. Jazzmaster missing the trem arm and box looked ran over. Prs that piezo volume drove me nuts. Jazzmaster that squealed like crazy on high gain. So prolly see those in there lol.
Guitar center will price match on proaudiostar. If it is sold as new. 45 day return policy. Snagged a jackson pro 7 string for 780 this way. Love that guitar.

I think they specifically buy guitars from the manufacturer with issues at a discount list them as used or new at a discount to the customer.

I've got great ones from them as well. And if they advertise as open box, i'm fine with some minor issue. But advertising new and it's not or has some ridiculous issue? No.

Yup. B Stock and Open Box.
I've only received one guitar from them that appeared new. But certainly could have still been a return. The other two I've ordered from them as open box, were definitely open box with some small issues. But thankfully I was able to fix them, and in the case of the acoustasonic save nearly $900. But it is a gamble.
I ordered one of the Orange Terror Stamps. We'll see how it is when it arrives.

I didn't realize you meant you ordered new and got those issues. That's not good.
I've only placed 2 orders from them. 1st was for 2 fender amps during their November massive sale - both arrived brand new in factory sealed boxes.
2nd order was for 2 classic vibe guitars. They were listed as Open Box but arrived brand new factory sealed.
Just my experience on the 4 items I've ordered.
Last fall 2022, I purchased 2 Squier Classic Vibes, 60s Strat and 60s P Bass from Pro Audio Star. Both were listed as new, and both arrived in new, unopened double boxes. Factory packaged. No issues, very satisfied with both the guitars and the shop. Just my experience so far.
Open box should indicate a return, but no issues. B-stock could imply either return or factory item with minor or cosmetic issues. Used could be a return but lacks original packaging or accessories. However, I have no experience with buying any if those from here. Listing something as B-stock "could" be a way of discounting an item lower than what the manufacturer allows. It's just hard to be certain.
That said there are some great deals here on the more premium Sterling Music Man Guitars, James Valentine guitar and Sting Ray 34 bass especially. Orange Terror Stamp is also extremely tempting at $130 vs $200 new. Boss Katana 50 EX open box at $280 is pretty nice.
Sometimes "open box" gear from PAS will be open box, but often you'll get lucky and it will be factory sealed. I suspect it's a way to get around MAP (minimum advertised price) rules. It also may be that if they run out of "open box" items, they just send you a new one instead of canceling your order.
For years now, ProAudioStar has always had a huge selection of "used" and "open box" music gear, including recording gear like mixers and interfaces, at substantial discounts. If you're looking for something specific from a major brand, it's always worth checking them first.
Keep in mind that "Sterling By Music Man" is the imported, cheaper version of Music Man instruments. You're not getting a California-built Stingray bass for $600.
"Sterling by Music Man" is different than the Music Man Sterling bass, which is an American-made bass that looks almost exactly like a Stingray. Yes, it's confusing!

To counter all the "I got a new item" posts that come with proaudiostar deals, I've ordered several items from them. All open box.
Only ONE of them *might* have been new in box. The others were all clearly returns with minor issues.
