Buying from Samsung charges tax on the full price of the device. Picking up from BB B&M only charged tax on the $250. YMMV but worth a try.

No free memory upgrade to 512gb. With regular offer at 512GB free upgrade, it is $427 with education discount comparing to $449, hence not good deal for 512GB version. But good deal for 256GB.
The biggest upgrade is the 8gen2. I own both s22u and s23u, the s22u is constantly a hot potato while s23u is at most warm under heavy load. Other than the processor, the battery life is a huge improvement. At $200 difference probally it makes sense to upgrade but not over that.
They ship you your new phone with packing material. Some soft sheeting and a lot of cardboard that is long, shredded like a pair of 80s jeans, rolled up on the new phone. A fedex return label will be inside. You will need to tape it to the outside of the box, on top of the original label (or remove the original label and apply new one).

Get your new phone up and running first. Look for any issues for a week.

Do a factory reset on your old phone. take a picture of the screen with your new phone to show no issues of front and back while on. In case Samsung employee tries to pull a fast one on you.

Turn your old phone off and wrap it up. You can dop off at any Fedex drop off location or find a Dollar General store. They will scan the package and send a receipt notice via text to your phone. Samsung will receive a couple business days later and let you know they receive. Few more days until they get a chance to review and ok the trade-in.

I am absolutely convinced that all slow downhill degrading of the s22 series is an attempt from Samsung to have you jump into newer phones. My s22 Ultra lately has been a disaster. All out of nowhere from recent firmware downloads.

Its all part of the sales game.
I remember this happening with my Note phones and being convinced as well. Oddly this one is still fast. T-Mobile variant.

Why would anyone do the T-Mobile offer? Go5GPlus sounds like the biggest ripoff ever. "Same deal for everyone, new or existing customers!" Just pay us an extra $60/month

I get the following message when buying with T-Mobile + trade-in.

"Your account type is not supported on Samsung.com. Please see the non-supported account types listed on the page. Please consider purchase of unlocked device by starting over."

Do I need to be on a certain plan? (i am currently on T-Mobile's Essentials plan)

I was able to get the S23U 256GB for $199 using the T-Mobile option and trading in an S21.

You have to have Go5G Plus but this method is much cheaper than going directly through T-Mobile so I'm happy with another 24 months of credit.

It shows on the Add A Line/Trade In that you need to have the Go5G Plus

I currently pay $54 for Verizon pre-paid, plus $20 for Netflix, and have considered getting Apple TV. With the military discount the T-mobile plan is $75. I'd have to pay extra to keep 4k, but for the most part it's not a huge increase in cost for 24 months, while saving at least $500 and still keeping my old phone. I did ask earlier if there was something I was missing as to why this wouldn't be a good deal but no one said no. Seems pretty good to me, with the only downside being locked in to T-mobile for 2 years.

TMobile I think gives one Netflix screen (it might have changed) and not 4K (but again it might have changed)

Yeah, but you can pay extra for the 4k, just not sure yet if I would. It would definitely be a better deal if it included it though. Number of screens is irrelevant for me.

I've made 2 or 3 posts saying why I would already...haven't heard any compelling arguments as to why it's NOT a great deal.

So how would I acquire said edu email... Tried a couple suggestions from interweb and never got my email address from the college

Edu deals & shop Samsung deals can't be combined (at least for me): I called the representative and he said as soon as cost goes below a limit edu discounts goes away. So you will get edu deals (expensive) or shop Samsung deal

Remember lock in. Due to any reason you wanna go out of tmo or next year wanna upgrade you will be stuck. but if you really like tmo then go for the plan. also I am not sure now but TMobile phone didn't run on Verizon but Verizon phone ran everywhere. unlock phone runs on tmo and Verizon.

I think I might have been misreading it, since phone carriers are infamous for obfuscating costs and fees. Seems like a so-so deal with 1 line and an amazing deal with 3 lines.

Well for one you're not locked in to a contract, you're only locked in to the discount you got on the phone. Of course I'd like the option of leaving if I wanted, but I've had 3 carriers in 25 years, and really only changed the first time because of moving overseas and then back. I've never kept a phone less than 5 years. The only reason I would want to upgrade is if something catastrophic happens to the phone.

Paying full price it's not really a great deal, but with military discount it's a lot better. There's also insider discounts that some folks are able to get ahold (doesn't stack with military/55+/etc, but is supposed to be better anyway).
