The Korg is better value since you get key cover and stand.
The 30X has slightly updated sound engine, but they both use Steinway based sound sample sets.
Kawai's prices aren't slick, YET.
Good luck! That's a massive rabbit hole you're asking about (if I assume you want both a 'piano like' digital piano with synth capabilities).
Very niche market sadly.
Unless you want to spend well above a grand or two, you may want to look at a Casio PX-560 (or a newer version of that model if it exists- been a while since I looked).
Around $1300. And is marketed as a stage piano + synth. It excels at neither function apparently, but again, for the price it seems to be the only thing in the market. If budget is not a concern there are quite a few options that are $2K+

So, assuming my FP-10 has the same action and feel as this one (which, again, has the same PHA-4 action), I would honestly recommend Korg or Kawai over it. I don't own a Kawai but they have very good action as well. Personally, I prefer a stiffer action, so for me Korg/Roland fits my preference better than Kawai, which supposedly has a lighter action.
Disclaimer: I don't use the built-in speakers of neither my Korg nor my Roland, I use them with Pianoteq and headphones only. So basically just like midi controllers. So I don't have any opinion on how they sound.
Anyway, I also own a Yamaha Clavinova with wooden keys, which to me is still the "gold standard". The mass of the wood in the keys seems to greatly help replicate a more authentic feel, and controlling dynamics is a breeze. But it's also a very different price range.

The s100 has a much lighter action, easier to play faster on, some people prefer lighter as opposed to the stiffer action on the fp30x.
Upgrade, not really. You'd have to have a specific use case that the fp30x does better.

For a very beginner I'd go with the smaller version of this, the FP-10. Same action as this. Costco has a nice bundle for $550 or so, the FP-10 with bench and decent stand and pedal. I'd probably upgrade the pedal.
