As far as the opioid lawsuit against RA here's my little story. RA isn't my pharmacy so it's just a general story. I was on some pretty strong meds last week in the hospital. Stronger than I've had before. When I was discharged, the doctor wrote a script for it in the pill form which I picked up on my way home. I haven't taken it because it's not something you would take unless you absolutely had to. I picked up my meds yesterday and there was another bottle of it in the bag. I'm like, is it Christmas? (just kidding). I'm going to keep it because I've been in a ridiculous amount of pain and the soonest that my doctor can see me is on Monday. The pain would have to be above a 10 for me to take it but I feel better having it than tossing it. It's interesting that I got a second bottle of it without asking for it. When I'm in the hospital, I'll take just about any pain med that they want to give me (except norco) because it makes me feel better and I don't get high from it. When I get home, I won't take anything. It's too easy to get addicted to it.

I've never had covid myself probably because I became a complete germ freak and still wear a mask. I'm not sure how effective wearing a mask is but at the very least it keeps me from sticking my hands in my mouth. Now if I could just keep from putting my foot in there lol.

I've NEVER seen you say a deliberately mean or cruel word to anybody on here, going back MANY years. You have always treated people respectfully, kindly, and with humor.

Now, I really hate to bring a bad memory, but I have to clarify. I can't say if you spoke otherwise that one time there was a big blowup with one person because I missed that totally, It was all deleted and you were gone for several years before I came on that day.

There was another person involved in that fight. We started off as friends and ended up as enemies. It's too bad because she had to take care of her mom who was having serious medical issues. Unfortunately, we can't go back in time. Things would've been so much better if we had all remained friends.

Fingers crossed, I have not had covid yet - that I know of. I continued to shop, but from 2020 through earlier this year, it was with ultra care (mask, sanitizer, touching only things I needed to, no cash, etc).
In June 2020 I took care of my son, who had it so long it was almost starting to impact his mental health. He masked up in the house, stayed in a certain area and wasn't allowed anywhere near the kitchen.
Earlier this year, my husband had covid and we got him paxlovid the very first day. I took care of him, and was certain I would get sick, but never did.
A researcher invited me to do a study to see why I haven't had covid, but his funding fell through and nothing came of it.

Wondering what your symptoms were and what med's they gave Rx for you.
Yes, I know about the dates being extended and have marked my boxes with the new date. In fact, I had planned to test today (with a box re-dated 8/23 - figured it was still good) because I was going to pick our son up from the airport tonight. He's made different plans even though he has had covid multiple times as he often travels for his job - cyber security.
But by last evening I felt so sick - weak, dizzy, coughing, headache, wheezing, stuffed head, etc. - that I figured if I didn't go to the ER then I would probably end up there during the night.
I also suffer from COPD though I have no idea why - have never smoked and no family history. I guess maybe second hand smoke or I'm just one of the lucky (un?) ones.
Anyway, in the hospital they gave me a large dose of Prednisone for the breathing and tylenol for the headache. I also got a 15 minute nebulizer treatment that consisted of Albuterol and ipratropium. I was able to get some sleep and felt a bit better this morning.
My headache is back with a vengeance; either from the Covid or spending hours this morning dealing with RX questions. My Rx manager is CVS and since we have no actual CVS in town I go to a pharmacy in Target which uses both the Target and CVS names. The CVS pharmacy web site was giving me different info than the automated system when calling. The web site telling me one drug was NA which was not true. So I opted to 'speak with a tech' who after a long wait on line told me they are two days behind due to workers not showing up. I explained how these were needed today and she agreed to fill them ASAP.
The drugs were Paxlovid which after I received the paper work mentioned how a lower dose should be prescribed for those with kidney disease. I also have chronic kidney disease and do not want it getting any worse where I may have to choose between dialysis or not. With a call to my doctor's office I found he would be of no use as he is off today. So they forward you to a nurse who said the best course of action would be to schedule a Follow up after ER visit. That would get me in quicker than a regular appointment. It's strange to me how many medical folks just don't seem to understand that with something like covid Paxlovid is time sensitive and needs to be started ASAP. Also, I doubt they want someone in the facilities with covid if a phone call would work just as well - heck, after the covid test came back positive I felt I was being treated like a pariah at the ER - no more personal came in the room, paper work handed through the doorway, etc. I guess I don't blame them as everyone I asked if they had covid all said 'Yes, and they didn't want it again'. I was also told that cases of covid have been going up at their hospital.
So I finally got someone at my doctor's office to say they would talk to a NP and have him call me back. Well, he didn't call but did answer my dosage question via their portal site. Better than nothing. Paxlovid is a mixture of two different meds where two of one and one of the other is taken twice a day. A lower dose is to only take one of each med twice a day. Even though the NP said I could stick with the higher dose, I've decided to change it myself and take two of one and one of the other in the morning and one of each in the evening. The long list of possible side effects is daunting so I hope I don't end up back in the ER.
The second drug was prednisone - 4 tablets each morning for four days. One thing I can tell you is they taste terrible going down, lol. Again a long list of possible side effects but all drugs seem to have this. I had a swimming buddy when we lived in PA that told me his doctor once told him that for every good thing a drug does it does at least one and usually more not so good things. I truly believe this is true as I've had some awful side effects from drugs I've taken as well as having drugs being recalled that can cause harm. Guess that's why it's called 'practicing' medicine.
The third Rx was an Albuterol inhaler. Haven't used that yet but since I had albuterol in the ER I'm not expecting any surprises.

I, too, am a complete germ freak but it still got me, lol. With the exception of doctor and dental appointments, hair cuts when absolutely necessary, and some outdoor activities, I have done nothing for the past 3 1/2 years. And I still wear masks too.
Like you said, it keeps your hands away from your face until you get home and wash them or at least use some hand sanitizer on them. Interesting study I read, I think it may have been on an AARP site. Medical personnel who tended to pick their noses had a higher rate of covid so at least it's a good thing to keep your fingers out of your nose and a mask prevents that from happening.
As far as the podium, no, I don't keep in touch with folks from there. Not really sure what happened to most of them. Occasionally I see one in The Lounge but that's a forum that I really don't understand very well. It's funny, but some of those posters told me how I was the 'mean' one. Well, I guess sometimes one can only take so much and needs to respond in kind? It was fun while it lasted and really opened my eyes to how some folks think. I've always had family and friends of both political parties but none that were as far left or far right as folks were in the podium, lol. I've always thought most were more 'middle of the road' than anything else. On the other hand, it's easy to say whatever in an anonymous forum so not sure everything said was 100% truthful.

With the increase in cases, you may want to start taking ultra care again.

I still wear a mask, I got some KN95's which are supposed to be better than the blue ones that first were available. I carry a bottle of Hand Sanitizer with me and use it all the time. We do go out to eat, using sanitizer after handling the menu's. I try to be supercareful. I got creeped out at CVS today when I was next in line after a guy was buying 3 covid tests. I was able to go to a different register after he left, I worried that the air was bad where he was.....
We got 4 shots. FIrst one Feb 2020, second March 2020, then 3rd one was November 2021??? I have to look at our Vax cards. Then 6 months ? or so after the third was the 4th, I'm waiting for the new one. I will wait a few weeks to hear about reactions to it, etc, but definetly plan to get it, due to age, etc. I'll check those dates for the 3rd and 4th ones and get back here.
For the 3rd pne, I was desperate to get them, CVS had long wait time, Did online search, and wow! got an appointment the same day at a Walmart near me!! 4th one was at a Wag's. got an appointment pretty close in time.
