If you're looking for something to put in a Steam Deck, I'd say skip this one and go for the 512GB Samsung EVO Select that's only $8-10 more right now at Samsung's website or Amazon. The write speeds on the SanDisk Ultra are not nearly as good in comparison.

A full breakdown:

SanDisk Ultra
* 400GB | $30 | 90 MB/s read, 30 MB/s write

Samsung Evo Select
* 512MB | $38-40 | 90 MB/s read, 74 MB/s write

+44 MB/s write and +112GB of storage is definitely worth the extra $10-ish.

The lottery of possibly getting a fake card from third-party Amazon sellers that co-mingle inventories with Amazon is not worth it for me.

I think you will be waiting a while longer. You can barely get 256 on sale for that price.

That's a lot. In the 90s, my first PC had like 200mb with like 4mb of ram. Crazy to see how fast things have developed.

I had to look it up. The Apple IIGS couldn't remember your name without a floppy.

Extreme would be the one if you have to write in 4K video.

Will this do fine with steam deck or the ally as game installation storage? Or are ssd's a better option?
its slower than an ssd but its perfect for emudeck and rom storage.

Willing to take the chance since I test all memory cards, flash drives with software that tells of true capacity, r/w speeds, bad blocks, etc. If you buy from amazon, you run chance of counterfeit but any place you purchase from could have a bad batch. Better to be aware before return window closes
And amazon can get to flaging those retailers with every return.

Anyone remember back in 2008 when a 1GB would cost you $40
I remember ordering a 1Gb for my psp for $100 laugh out loud and during those times people were bragging about 1GB of ram

Does this work well in dash cams or other security cams where there is a lot of writing and overwriting?
You should check the user manual, as most devices that use SD Cards have an upper limit to the size.

The smallest storage I've bought was a 8Mb (not Gb) SmartMedia card that went into a Fuji digital camera that took 1.5 mPixel. This was 1999. I think that memory card was $20.

I've still got a 32mb (not gb) flash drive that set me back $40 back in the day. Still works, not that it's good for anything now though. 💾😆

i guess if my post disappears i'll know it's a banned brand/seller, but team has a 512GB for <$26, 4.6 stars with 2k+ reviews: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08976HLQL
Why the thumbs down and laugh? Does Teamgroup not make their own SD cards or something? Their SSD's are reliable. Nice find, thank you.

These are the fastest available cards for the 3DS and Nintendo Switch fyi.
Fastest as in, "this vs a faster card" shows no difference on the Switch. It is true. Older hardware is why. Still think that Teamgroup sd (512gb) for $25 was a better deal.
