Why the negs? This is the upgraded model, with more RAM, storage, and CPU-GPU cores. I think it's a good price

It is a good price. $100 lower than Apple education pricing for the same model if you exclude the current offer for $150 gift card. Factoring in the gift card (and 20% discount on AppleCare+), it would be better at the moment to go directly through Apple.

It's not more RAM. It's 550 more for the storage + the additional cores. The base model is 1750 on amazon right now and I think that's better value

Friendly Reminder MicroCenter should price match, if you want to support a "local" business. By that i mean just a place near you.

Just picked up one with an M2 and this thing rips! Splurged with the 24 gb RAM as well. New screens are pretty impressive as well.

It is likely worth spending the extra $80 for new on a premium laptop

Me too.

But if one is set on going through Apple I would purchase the machine first, get the gift card, and then purchase AppleCare+ with the gift card and discounted rate. Then you come out ahead.

Was looking to do this, but saw that you cannot use a gift card for Apple Care. Not sure if this has changed, but I'd make sure.

This is the way. Looking at the crazy deal BHPhoto had a month or so back, for only $200 more, this is not as good of a deal. Yeah, it was for a 2021, but the specs were incredible.

The base model will suffer from the slower SSD read/write speeds since it has a single NAND chip. This model does not. That was a bigger deciding factor for me given both models have the same 16 GB of ram. If I'm going to be paging the SSD, I wanted the faster dual NAND model. The CPU/GPU probably isn't enough of a difference for most people though.

Because it's $2200 for a laptop
That shouldn't be a negative. I paid $4500 for my Alienware laptop. Overpriced, that's for the buyer but I didn't see any competition. In the same way I also have a Mac since I love the opposite side with 20 hour batteries and like MacOS interface more than Windows.
