i had a liftmaster at a previous place, really like the jackshafts. But holy crap read the depot reviews showing the plastic drive sprocket, no thanks, while not unusual a few reviews mention it's a non user replacable part so SOL after 3 years presumably.
I bought one of these 2 years ago at $450. Simply the finest garage door opener I have ever had. Great Alexa integration. Quiet. It works great. The only thing I wished it would do is raise /lower the door a little faster. It is notably slower than your regular ceiling mount models, but worth it.

well when you are being chased by a knife wielding serial killer, I bet you will wish you had a quicker traditional garage door opener. /s
Make sure to keep proof of purchase or some sort of purchase record for Genie. I got screwed on lifetime warranty even though they sent me parts under warranty, years later they had no record of me at all or record of registration and I lost my lifetime warranty benefits.
I was intrigued by this product but then realized: the biggest space taker in my garage are the two left and right horizontal rails that guide the door, not the machine and chain in the middle. The middle is dead space I would never use. Aside from some minor aesthetics keeping the middle clean and free, this thing is pointless.

I'm sure that wasn't intentional.... Crooks.

Middle is necessary space for 2 post lift.
I threw my opener in the trash even though it was basically new when I bought the house 🤣

The other advantage of the jack-shaft openers is, at least in my experience, they are much quieter. Whether that matters or not is an individual thing but for me it's one of those things that I appreciate every day.

1. They are quieter, 2. Some people like myself have storage above the garage door so eliminating the belt is very nice

If you have a tall garage the jack shaft opener allows you to raise the garage door rails so that it basically lifts the sorry vertically instead of coming back horizontally and splitting your vertical space in two. I have a 13' ceiling in my garage and this allowed me to add a 4 post lift that I can walk under.
