You shouldnt use their software, anyway, it's not great. Also its not locked to their software so you tossed for no reason. Use DisplayCal. Its free and uses ArgyllCMS which is crazy accurate and open source. It gets constant updates and can use a wide range of instruments.

For anyone sitting on an older Spyder: upgrade. It is more than 10x faster than my spyder5.

And, as always, a friendly reminder that all spyder devices are the same and that Pro, Express, etc. just denote the software license you hopefully wont be using anyway.
I'll just list every product in the store.

When I was heavily into photography I used one. And between setting your lighting right and using this on your monitor it made photo editing a ton easier. The good ones recommend doing it like every 30 days. But it's a simple process.

Just be careful getting a newer one, datacolor is kind of shitty about deprecating their software. I had a nice colorimeter from them back when windows 7 was cool. They never released a version for windows 8, it stopped working and headed to the dump. Same usb port, same color sensor, they just wanted to tap a new market by forcing everyone to upgrade.

Yeah its good that there are options, i tried the open source tools but it was too much like fumbling with gimp, taking way too many steps when i just want one thing, for the sensor to read the display and save an ics file. Since im not selling my photos anyway i just gave up and embraced the wild west of who-knows-what-color.
