I would be possibly interested to use as a monitor but looks like it's not great at that

I was able to score the 55 inch version [amazon.com] for $109.99 last year so I'm hopeful/optimistic I can get this deal as well; thx OP.

Regarding the 55 inch, the colors were terrible and all washed out. No matter what I did, I never could get the picture to be acceptable.

However, when I connected a Fire Stick 4K Max and tried to adjust the picture quality while the TV was in the HDMI input for it, picture quality improved extraordinarily. Once I adjusted the Black Level and White Level via the Screen Test app [amazon.com], I saw a big improvement.

I set the Fire Stick 4k Max Display settings to the following before adjusting the picture settings when using the Screen Test app [amazon.com]….

Color Depth = 12bits

Color Format = YCbCr

Dynamic Range Settings = Always HDR

I mention all this because at first the 55 inch version of this deal made an awful impression and I'm assuming that the 43" version will have the same issues.

IMO you can improve picture quality dramatically by not using the built in FireTV OS of these TVs and using a Fire TV 4k Max stick instead.

Coincidentally, I just installed that 55" outside in my backyard. If it dies, it dies. Was only $110

Do you cover it with anything? I am adding one in a covered outdoor seating area. I was looking for something bigger than 43" but I'm in on the invite

this good as desktop PC monitor?
Absolutely not.

The refresh rate, ghosting, etc. There are reasons why monitors cost so much money when you slap 4K on it even for a small one.

Even with a $1,400 OLED I have, I still prefer my monitor and that thing is high end luxury compared to this which is on the lowest end of the spectrum.

Only at a distance would I game with this and I wouldnt do that because I wouldnt want such a small screen thus I wouldn't get this for gaming at all. Maybe Nintendo.

Isnt crazy how people have to be "invited" to spend their money? I would get it if it was a small company or an in person sale to, ya know, prevent accidents or keep servers from being overloaded but Amazon? Its quite silly, and I agree with a different comment. I requested an invite for a PS5 and they never got back to me. Ended up getting one from Sony Direct thanks to another post on here i believe.
Bots

When you're up against bots, suddenly this invite scheme doesn't seem to bad.

Your chances of getting this price are low but possible.

With Bots its 0% chance.

The lightning deals last year also required Prime fwiw. I got the 50inch U6HF that sold out really quick. Anyway, it makes me wonder what kind of algorithm they will use for this lottery or if it's random. I guess we'll never know unless someone cares to assemble the many unsatisfactory data points in this thread that will get posted. Won't get enough data points from people that just signed up before Prime Day but I'm sure they'll have to include at least a mix of those

I have used 32 inch 720p hdtv as computer monitors for over 10 years, and also 1080p hdtv's and 4k 43 inch hdtv's as computer monitors. No problems for me what-so-ever. Now I do adjust the font and settings so I can surf the web and watch movies/tv shows ... so they look good to ME! Smilie

I also understand that everybody on SD has different standards and amounts of money to throw at hdtv's, so , as long as you get something that "looks good to you", that is all that matters.

I remember 10-15 years ago, hardly anyone used hdtv's as computer monitor, so people suggested I was "crazy" to use HDTV'S as computer monitor. That has all changed over the years, and now it is pretty main-stream.

I also have 24 inch monitors in different rooms, that work great for me up close and personal. But it does depend on what you plan to do with your computer, if you are into heavy duty photo stuff, cad, super gaming, than YEAH, ... this would not be my first option. Smilie

Can I use this TV as computer monitor? My Apple Thunderbolt Display just broke down yesterday after 13 years of satisfaction. I'm looking something to replace it. Or should I get 32 computer monitor? It's hard to beat $99 price tag.

Not recommended. This TV doesn't get 4:4:4.

I compared it against the tcl s455 that I bought last year for a similar price. It gets brighter than the TCL but yeah it lacks 444.

Also with using as PC monitor, it depends on what you are use to, and if you were happy with what you having been using in the past, maybe getter a Newer version of monitor.

I was pretty much saying "for my use", I mostly surf a few web sites, check banking, and other services, and youtube videos, and tv shows/ movies ...email, etc. Nothing fancy .

If you have specialized needs , than you might want to re-think how you might want to use another one of your computers in main Living Room, or Bed room, for bigger sized hdtv's. The hdtv's like this has options to plug in roku, android, amazon sticks, and other devices, and bluetooth, wifi, and speakers compared to plain PC monitors. We have guys in this room, that buy very expensive computers, graphic cards, and OLED big screens, ... and maybe they think of buying something like this for porch, bathroom, or kid's room, or as secondary hdtv in same room, so all are welcome. For 100 dollars for 43 inch hdtv 4k is pretty cheap for most of us, like chump change. Smilie

Will you recommend to buy this $99 4k tv as computer monitor for an old Mac mini 2012? I've been paired it with a really good Apple Thunderbold Display for 11-12 years. I don't know about the technology evolved in 2023, but want something to replace it. My monitor just broke down last night and I'm looking something affordable. My 12 yrs old mac has been my spare computer mainly just for internet, Youtube, or light use. I have 2019 Macbook Pro as my daily computer. I also have an Alienware laptop with 3070 GPU just for Diablo 4 that I purchased few weeks ago mainly for this game. I spent too much on this laptop, really don't want to buy another expensive monitor.

the TV is under an awning but I did buy this cover to protect it from any rain+wind that might get it wet. I literally installed it yesterday so time will tell. If anything, it'll be humidity that kills it - but it was $100, if it lasts a year, that'll be worth it

Hardware SOC model ARM Cortex-A55 Processor 4 x 1300GHz •
ARM Cortex-A55 Graphic 800GHz • G3
RAM 2GB
ROM 16GB

Not as fast as I would like, but the storage is as good as a cube, so If I get a invitation, I am going to take one to replace a 2020 42 inch Toshiba AFTV I got from BB . The 8gb not even close to enough for the added tuner for the TV to the OS . Storage has always been my beef! I don't know if we will see a cube lower than this ($100) on prime day.

My benchmark on a 2nd gen cube was at woot is $40, if it ever becomes available available again and I would get that over the $25 Max.. It would take, a $60 3rd gen cube to get me to bite, but not holding my breath on that one, maybe BF, but I can hope..

No more 8gb storage PLEASE! I am not EVER going to buy a stick (GCC,ONN, Firestick) unless it has 16gb or more in 2023. At least this model seems to have 16gb.

no, i don't think so unless you were already planning to get one. to me, roku is the gold standard of TV OS. the fact that it's an omni fire tv and only 43" seems terrible to me. i would pay extra to get the TV you actually want.
Every single Roku TV I've gotten has slowed considerably after a maximum of 12 months to where they become worthless. I've had to use a Chromecast to make it functional. I don't want to wait 60 seconds for Netflix to load and then have a 2 second lag when trying to select what I want to watch.

Hoping to get one for my parents. They retired and volunteer at parks traveling around the US in their camper trailer and this is the biggest size TV they can fit in it. It would be a nice surprise for them since they are on a budget.
