Its one of those things. If you know, you know. Easy money.
That's B.S. Wifey and I apply for at least 6-8 cc's/year and our credit rating is around 830/ea. Applying for a cc makes a tiny hit to your cc rating which goes away pretty quickly.

If your credit rating is so bad that your worried about this, then you have bigger financial problems to solve.
The amount of new accounts opened per year is only a small percentage of the overall credit formula. The majority of your score is based on you debt to income ratio. I open around 4 cards per year and sit around 790-810 credit score. That is still in the range to get the best available interest rates.

Apply and call the customer service to expedite. Tell them you need to use the card in couple of days for big expense. Generally they will help .

This is my fav card since I spend quite a bit on amzn and occasional WF for groceries. They also have sign-up specials 2-4% back on gas, other grocery store purchases, etc.

The 5% is available pretty quickly after you pay off your cc it's there within about 2 days and you can chose to spend as much as available down to 1 cent or not at all. It works on ALL amazon purchases, not just sold by Amazon.

When you use a friends link , the person signing up does not get anything extra, right?

(please no PMs, I've already signed up , not looking for a code)

Also, how is the 5% redeemed, is it just automatically applied, or do you manually have to redeem it?

You would have to spend like 1500 on the card in 3 months to break even. 5% would be $1000 if you were comparing to 0 percent butt you are still earning some percent back with current deal

Has anyone tried to apply for a second card? I still have the one from two years ago and thinking of taking advantage of this $200 again.

Not too difficult for many folks, even if you need to pay some utilities or Kiva it. (I'm assuming most folks with Prime aren't on to tight of a budget.)
But ... likely those same folks have a card where they're getting a decent kick back already... and 5% (or more) for the current bonus categories. Realistically it's more like spending the full $2500 to break even, but it still sucks that they play games to make this offer not much better (if at all.)

Can you actually have two active Prime cards for the same person?

Definitely not. You CAN apply for the other two prime card variants too (I've had all 3 for 5+ years now), but only have one of each tied you your identity. If someone like me clicks the link, it tells me "it looks like you're already a cardmember).

Yeah but at big cost to your credit rating!
See that's the thing. My credit rating is 800+ and if I did apply for 5 cards in 2 years. that won't even get me below 740 credit score which is pretty much the highest you need for 99.9% of anything out there and still receive full benefits.

I can tell you right now I notice zero difference between having 740+ credit score as opposed to 800+. The only benefit of 800+ credit score is that you get to brag about it, that's pretty much it.

Thanks! What's the third one? I know of the Visa Prime card (which I already have), and I believe they have their own "store" card.

No problem. The third one is a little special and may not be the easiest to get, but it's the Amex Business Prime Card. Need to apply as a business or "business" with an EIN or SSN (like normal if you're acting as a sole proprietor). Getting that card doesn't necessarily mean you have to deal with special taxes or whatever if you don't actually have a business either.
