Its one of those things. If you know, you know. Easy money.
That's B.S. Wifey and I apply for at least 6-8 cc's/year and our credit rating is around 830/ea. Applying for a cc makes a tiny hit to your cc rating which goes away pretty quickly.

If your credit rating is so bad that your worried about this, then you have bigger financial problems to solve.
The amount of new accounts opened per year is only a small percentage of the overall credit formula. The majority of your score is based on you debt to income ratio. I open around 4 cards per year and sit around 790-810 credit score. That is still in the range to get the best available interest rates.

Do you actually cancel them after to only reap the sign on bonus etc or just hold on if no annual fee?
canceling actually hits your score, especially accounts that are "young." if no annual fee, you should hold, unless you're having issues hitting your credit limit i.e. you have 10 cards with 100k total credit limit and now you want an 11th card but the finance co's will give you a tiny limit because your total limit is already near max

depends how easy it is for you to hit the minimum spend. this is like turn your brain off instant $200, i think that's more than worth.

but yeah if you're trying to min/max or that extra $500 makes a big difference then there's better deals out there

So my wife has the Amazon Prime account in her name. I have the solid credit though. Can I apply under her account and have it loaded to her account? Guessing they won't let spouses do that since name on Prime Account needs to match cc.
I had no issue the other day using my dads account since I don't have prime myself. Used my name and address for the CC application but used the email that he uses for prime when signing up just to be safe. Got instant approval and the gc in the account.

That's an insane deal for this card. Some benefits not advertised it has warranty extension, purchase protection, cell phone protection (if you pay your bill with it), luggage insurance (also if you pay with it), and some more minor things.

Sucks that it's chase. I've opened 6 credit cards in the last two years so automatically denied. Synchnony Also sucks due to the low credit limits. Because of this it puts a sour taste in my mouth with Amazon. Wal mart/ capital one are much more generous. I get credit limits ten fold with capital one.

Dropped prime due to it!

I use my Amazon store card all the time- 5% back and pay it off at the end of the month. $200 seems like a good upgrade Smilie

EDIT: HOLY CREDIT LIMIT!!!! Anyone else getting gigantic credit lines?

I did it last year and the credit is applied instantly to your Amazon account. I sure do wish I could do it this year also. lol
What if you share an Amazon account and are not the main Amazon account holder?
