That's B.S. Wifey and I apply for at least 6-8 cc's/year and our credit rating is around 830/ea. Applying for a cc makes a tiny hit to your cc rating which goes away pretty quickly.

If your credit rating is so bad that your worried about this, then you have bigger financial problems to solve.

The amount of new accounts opened per year is only a small percentage of the overall credit formula. The majority of your score is based on you debt to income ratio. I open around 4 cards per year and sit around 790-810 credit score. That is still in the range to get the best available interest rates.

Depends on your situation. I don't really have any chase cards that I'm eligible for another SUB so might as well. The 4 year wait on the Sapphire cards is brutal lol.

I tried to apply last night, but forgot to unfreeze my credit. And my application was denied. I guess I'll have to wait for the letter to come in the mail and wait 6 months before applying again.

You don't have to wait. Same thing happened to me and I called their customer service after I unfreezed my credit reports. Then they just checked my application again and approved it. Very easy process.

My credit is well over 800. I got an airline cards from chase 7/6. They Took two days to approve Amazon. The $200 gift card showed up automatically.
