Ok, now for some real world reviews - MINE.

Bought one of these, first day it went on sale, 26" grey. Arrived last Thursday via Fedex (June 29th). Put it together without instructions in about 15-20 minutes.

I'm very surprised at how good it is. I'm 5'10" and 220lbs. Fits me just fine. I live on a good hill, steep enough that I have to gear way down on a regular bike, and still very winded at the top. With throttle only, it will almost maintain speed all the way up the hill (not very long, just 150 yards or so). On any pedal assist (there's only 3 levels), it's easy to maintain a constant speed up the hill. On flat ground it's hard to keep a decent/slow pace, even on the lowest assist it wants to go too fast, wish it had 5-6 levels.

I took it up & down the hill about 8-9 times and only took one bar off the battery indicator (there are 4). I had other things to do so told one of the neighbor kids to run it until just the last bar is lit. She rode it for probably an hour around the neighborhood (not just up & down our hill) and had to put it in her garage when the rain started. I asked her to just finish in the next day or two and bring it back to me to charge.

Power is good, comfort is good (for a small seat). Front fork seems a bit sticky, not smooth. Brakes are super squeaky and kinda soft. Tweaking the cable length I can now get decent braking but still noisy. Will have to work on those more. Never had disc brakes before so it will be different. It is not much heavier than a similar sized aluminum frame bike, the 10 lbs or so extra is all battery. Take that battery off and you'd swear it's a normal bike. Nothing like the purpose-built tanks you see a lot of, especially the fat tire ones.

This will be for my wife who is quite a bit lighter than I, so expect that she will be delighted when she gets back in town. We rented a couple bikes just like these a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it, hence this purchase. She's a bit shorter too, but I've confirmed that the seat will go down far enough so it's comparable to her existing bike. We'll take some of the farkles off her old bike (fat seat, lock, computer) and sell or give it to one of the of neighbor kids growing too fast.

I will want something with more power, but she'll be happy with this one. I can rebuild this battery pack when it wears out, or build an extension and 2nd pack if we want really long rides. I paid my own $$$ for this bike, it's not a paid review or in return for a good rating, from anyone.

Hope I touched on all the main points. Bottom line, pleasantly surprised so far (assuming I can get the brake squeaks worked out).
Know your state laws. All these folks suggesting motors over 750w in my state would put the "bike" into the "motorcycle" category requiring M endorsement and dot approved helmet for on road use. 750w and under that can't exceed specific speed (29 mph i think) get treated like a bike and don't require anything. (In my state)

A lot of states have adopted the 3 classification system of ebikes, but not all.

True, but at that price, it's not a bad entry into an electic bike.

What is the average watt? What would you recommend for a 1st timer?

I got a Bafang 1000W mid drive kit. I feel like riding a motorcycle on the road at 30mph+. Never regret until a big bug hit my face.

It's horribly under powered for that weight. I weigh about 170 and have a 350W that feels only acceptable

The only reason I plan on purchasing this was to exercise my dog around the block but would the motor have enough power to do that or is it too underpowered for that

If by exercising, you intend to do most of the pedaling, yeah this would be fine for that.

Thanks for the information I think I will pass on this because I was hoping the motor would do most of the work just hop on the right turn it on and only use the pedals if the battery was near dead
