Yes, in the old days. But not any more. Instead, just buy a $1 BYOP sim for another device and activate/transfer balance. I have done it perhaps 20 times.

Beware: They canceled my 4 recent orders on previous deals on different addresses with completely new accounts.
The charges are still pending on the cards.

This deal is aimed particularly at those who want to either harvest the plans or have inexpensive phones to keep on hand in their vehicles for emergency use.

WARNING: There's already a lot of false information in this thread, and there's going to be more. Most people are not up to date on what's happening with Tracfone.

Old post below

It's not worth it anymore. Tracfone has entered it's enshitification after the Verizon buyout.

The phones are hard to flip because there's so many other flippers/harvesters flipping so low, the AAL points are long gone, referrals are not worth it, and the entire reward points system is slowly being dismantled.

The only reason to buy this is to harvest the time, and Tracfone is a lousy carrier, so you shouldn't be doing that anyway. You should be moving to a different carrier.

Even as "emergency phones" these are really terrible. I wouldn't want to count on one of these in an emergency.

My family and I have been using TracFone and Total Wireless (now Total by Verizon) for several years and we have had no problems with the service. TracFone may not be the best choice for those who need a lot of minutes, texts or mobile data, but there are many people who find it to be a great deal for their needs. Each of these phones would be less than $20 for a YEAR of service, which is under $2 per month.

There is a lot of good information in this Frontpage deal thread from mid-November, which was for a slightly better deal than the deal I posted today:

Excellent way to harvest a year worth of plan!

Do friend referral first, then transfer line & merge with your existing line. Can get 8000 pts for 4+ referral to another account, plus 2500 pts into this new account.
No more 8k, and the latest dps are only new account gets 2500, referrer gets nothing.

Referrer gets 7000 pts max, plus new account at 2500 pts. I just did it, and referrer shows points pending.

Apart from those who want to harvest the plans that come with these phones, this deal may also be appealing to seniors who may be more comfortable with a flip phone and do not need a lot of minutes or texts.

Can use it to move plan to eSIM on iPhone? My mom has T-Mobile connection but it loses connection when she on casino (it's on a stationary ship at shore), T-Mobile basically gets no connection there. She has dual esim on her iPhone 14 so I was hoping to move there for emergency.

Thanks

These are old (2019) flip phones which have always been bundled at 1200. Smart phone bundled plans are still 1500.
