This is their cheaper option, not the one that came on Kickstarter. This printer is amazing, haven't turned my prusa on in months because this is just so much faster. Just ordered my second one so feel free to ask any questions.

I'm confused by this, as Bambu has undercut the competition on pricing (Prusa), and delivered a more advanced machine as well. How is that like Dyson?

Also, didn't Dyson basically invent the high powered stick vacuum market and pretty consistently win performance tests against both traditional vaccums as well as other cheaper models?

Ive barely used the display. Every option on the display seems to be in the desktop app. I haven't used the display at all.
Great, thanks! I also heard that file transfers take a lot longer with the P1P (vs the X1C). Is that a big deal?

Finally: the camera. I would plan to use this to monitor jobs remotely. I heard it's also inferior to the X1C. Is that true of the latest camera supplied with the P1P? Hard to keep track of all the P1P hardware revisions.

People say the LIDAR isn't that good. Just get a P1P and and an AMS and spend the rest on filament.
And build an enclosure system. There are quite a few good ones out there for the p1p

Shoot, I have 2 MK3s and 1 Voron V0. This makes it more and more hard for me to justify for a Voron v2 :p. Maybe by BlackFriday it will be $499?
I have a v0 and a v2.4 that I built. The process was a blast. However, my P1P with my printed enclosure is my go to printer.

Why is the p1p the go to over the voron?

Seriously. They definitely had some deep pockets to pay for all the advertising. I they're mentioned on every Reddit/YouTube/IG/etc 3D printing related post it seems.

Does look to be a good, feature packed printer, but what I don't like is it's not open source and the repairability seems questionable. Having run multiple printers for years I know these things are machines and need maintenance, part replacements, service, etc, and I haven't read Bambu is the best in supporting that department.
It's made and designed in China. Being open source isn't a requirement for generally being repairable. There's already knockoff replacement parts and improved parts on aliexpress.

The bambu store has pretty reasonable prices for replacement parts too.

The main area of concern for lack of open source, and thus 3rd party replacements would be the main control board and display/control panel, if Bambu goes out of business.

At the end of the day, you have to make the choice whether open source and thus more expensive is what you want, for an out of the box working experience, or paying less and getting a mostly closed-source but out of the box working and fast printer is what you want.

It is after all, only $599, which is extremely cheap for non-bed-slinger that works immediately.

Agreed, and made my choice. Placed an order today with some accessories and upgrades. Definitely didnt wake up this morning expecting to drop a grand on a new 3D printer, but hey, thats the SD lifestyle! lol Hopefully itll be everything its claimed to be and Ill be able to recover funds by selling off my Prusa MK3s printers.

I think it's a great channel and he's a really smart guy, but do I really need to take what he says as a gospel and completely ignore what I can see with my own eyes?

What you/he are saying is that the ULTIMATE limiting factor is the flow/heat. That's kind of a duh. What I'm saying is even if you've found the perfect fast speed/cooling/flow ratio your part will still come out weak because there's hardly any diffusion happening because of how fast things are moving, so after the filament is extruded it's cooled before it had a chance to fully bind with the previous layer. Hence the filament is currently the limiting factor.

Obviously you can reduce cooling, but then it starts looking like a mess because the filament does not like to be swung around at those speeds while still not fully cured.
Until you do independent testing, I will take what he says with evidence to back it up over what you think you're seeing.

I don't have a p1p but I do stray over to the bambu sub on Reddit. They have customer service issues, parts that they either can't or won't sell. Warped beds they won't replace.

They aren't perfect, in other words. The thing that keeps me in the prusa camp is that the founders are former dji exec's. And I have owned dji drones. Oem Spare parts for them are pretty limited a year or two later. And their answer used to be the trade-up program that is now discount. And with the printers I wonder how long the hotends and beds will be available and once they aren't. With a non open source machine. Then what?
Do you not stray over to the prusa subreddit? Because their printers aren't perfect either and their chat first customer service is useless in my experience.

There are already 3rd party spares on aliexpress for the p1p/x1 and there isn't a reason to think that would stop if the company folded (although there isn't any indication that will happen.)

I get it I also bought into the prusa hype, and then I bought one, and then I had to fix it repeatedly because prusa either cut corners (hotend fan) or they made a design change to accomodate something stupid (screwing up the heatbreak for the mmu) and the whole time support was of zero help actually getting anything fixed.

I'm also curious how you compare your v2.4 with your P1P and why you prefer using it.

I really don't see what the rush is. This is going to be its standard price going forward, so may as well wait a bit longer and see how the K1/K1 Max stack up. Obviously if the AMS is a must then may as well buy it now.

I'm really curious what percentage of users goes for the AMS. Any ideas?

I would definitely take his word over some rando's on the interwebs. Having said that you should look into the recent developments in the filament market. If anything it backs up my claims.

When this part dies [bambulab.com], and it will, you'll like your Bambu product a lot less as you'll be doing the repair.

Buy a few for backup because when BL folds up shop you wont be wanting to build those cables yourself.

That's just a molex pico blade connnector on either end. Nothing specialty about it.
