Just got rid of this one myself to upgrade. It works okay but the "just roll to clean" doesn't always work, you can expect to always have some stuff fall back in the box. I ended up using a scoop more often than rolling it around and watching litter fall out the front. Just my 2 cents
Same experience. Usually I would get a couple of clumps stuck to the litter box that won't move when rolling the box over. For people getting this, you shouldn't expect to never scoop litter again. It will definitely decrease the amount you have to scoop up though
What is your experience with pine litter (I've never seen it in stores)?
I use a mix of crystals for urine absorption and a wheat based litter for clumping.
I didn't grow up with cats and ended up with 2 rescues.
Got 1 bag of clay in the beginning and never went back (clay is for masochists who miss out on digging their yard with a shovel...).
i just buy the cheap offbrand stuff from walmart and it works great. saves me tons of money. smells better too. you don't get clumps so you just have to make sure the urine doesn't build up too much when you scoop/sift. some people say pine tracks around the house more, but i actually found clay to be worse..getting granules all over my bed etc. pine is more noticeable when it tracks, but also easier to clean up because of that imo. some people say pine hurts cats feet more which would be a legit concern potentially for some cats. it's also better on the environment and a bag lasts longer in addition to being cheaper. getting a scoop where the pellets won't fall through but the broken down finer urine particles will is a thing to look out for as well and makes scooping/sifting easier. some people make/buy sifting litterboxes but i've never felt the need.

I'd love to know what you upgraded to and how it is working out for you! I've been looking for something for my daughter and her cat for almost a year. Mainly because the dust bothers her allergies So badly..
(P.S. also, thank you for saving me 40$!!)
I agree with everyone here. I took out all the extra stuff and just used this thing as a regular litterbox because the rolling didn't really work. It would work if cats just did #2, but the #1 clumps so much it just doesn't work right. Also, I switched away from clay and clumping to pine recently because my cat is getting old and isn't shaking the clay off his paws in the box, he's just tracking it all over my house and onto my bed and furniture. At least the pine pellets fall off his paws faster and they're easier to clean up and don't leave dust build up.
Had one of these years ago. All you are doing is rolling poop and pee covered litter all over the wall of this box. It's pretty gross if you think about it. Also, as others have said, it doesn't even catch everything, so you end up having to open the thing up and handle the feces covered top in order to actually scoop the litter out.
Wouldn't recommend.

I had the original of this, and upgraded it to this version about 2 years ago. The new latches are a big improvement!
I love this box, as it makes it so quick and easy to scoop so kitty has a nice clean box to go in.
I only use Tidy Cats Lightweight litter, as heavy litter can cause the grate inside to become dislodged. Rarely, does a clump fall back into the box. Usually, that is my fault for waiting too long to roll and clean it. The other reason this could happen is if your cat likes to do all his or her poop and pee in the back of the box. Luckily, mine distributes it, so I don't generally have any issues.
When I disassemble to clean, I wash and dry all the parts, then spray them with one of the automotive sealants I use on my car, like Turtle Wax Seal and Shine, and it keeps stuff from sticking to the plastic for a while. I also like to spray that stuff on my shower walls to keep the water spots from sticking, but that's another story!
Anyway, I love this litter box, and my cat has been using some version of it for at least 6 years. I wish it came in a JUMBO size, as my 20 pound orange kitty barely fits!
I've had one since 2018 really never had a problem with it I ended up getting another one and it was way too small this extra large one is the way to go you just have to be careful on how much kitty litter you put in it

Never have this issue. Roll, smack the bottom, roll back. 95% clean. No scoop required.
Imagine that whenever you flushed your toilet, your poop got rubbed on the walls of your bathroom before going down. This is exactly what happens with this design- you end up with a box with skidmarks all over the walls.
I've had a Litter Robot for years and it is a God send (but expensive)
+1 to Litter Robot. We've been using it for 2+ years, our cats prefer it over two other regular litter boxes. App notifications to refill the litter and change the bag are very helpful.
I've had older versions of this brand and product since 2014. Works great, turn it over, smack the bottom a bunch to get the litter to unstick from the floor, roll it back.
When my neighbors are away and I have to clean their regular litter box with a scoop, I notice that it takes 10x longer to clean, requires much more effort and it's dusty. Makes me appreciate this product so much more. I use the cat litter is regularly sold at Costco.
Personally, I don't mind that there is 5% of small litter particles left over. It eventually gets cleaned out over time.

Try FreshStep litter. Significantly less dust when cleaning and doesn't bother me near as much as other brands do
