lol there seems to be some lost in translation and understanding

that is made with glutinous/sweet rice. Yes, it is also sticky. And also called sticky rice. But it is a whole different type of rice grain. And the only rice that doesn't really stick naturally is basmati and whatever uncle Bens is.

And Jasmine rice is the midway point for stickiness and grain length

To the rest of the potato-starchers in the thread: This is just general purpose rice that is consumed by East and most Southeast Asians

Yes, this rice can be used for sushi, but it technically wouldn't be sushi rice until it is prepped/seasoned with rice vinegar and some sugar. Nishiki also sells the bottle of sushi rice vinegar that pairs with this lol
Ironically I just switched off this rice, so it was funny to see it here. It tastes great, but I just got tired of dealing with how sticky it is. I've been using the trader joes jasmine and it's actually great.

This is not Sushi grade and surely NOT proper sticky rice. It's just a relatively higher quality normal rice (for east Asians) if not expired or being properly stored in warehouse before put on sale. I won't use it for mango desert or sushi. It's just a good day to day rice at okay price. not something slickdeal worthy though.

You can, but sushi rice is typically shorter grain, which means it's typically going to be sticky when cooked. this says "medium grain" but I would guess it's still not going to be fluffy rice like you might be after. If you're just looking for cheap food, it's certainly an option.
Oh Ok.. I never had sticky rice.

Same for me in central Ohio. I was shocked that rice on Amazon turned out to be a lot cheaper than the same thing sold in Asian grocery stores.

Japanese sushi rice is short or medium grain white rice. It is "sticky" but it isn't classified as a sticky or sweet rice that is used to make Thai sticky rice or Japanese Mochi.

Can eat like normal rice or is just for sushi?
Normal rice. It's a calrose type medium grain rice and works well in sushi as well.

My Japanese MIL washes her sushi rice three times before putting it in the rice cooker. It comes out perfectly.
Soaking for 30 mins prior to cooking will yield a bigger taste difference for this particular rice.

How does this compare to Costco rice? If I'm just making regular rice in the instant pot?
