As others have said this saw isn't worth it for 2x lumber, it's doable but it's not a good match even with the higher power batteries. It's really not even the power of the saw but the size of the blade. Fully extended it's barely 1/8" out of a 2x and that just bogs the saw down and makes the cut much harder. Strapping or anything less than 1" hasn't been an issue thus far. Fine if it comes in a kit you'd buy otherwise but the 7 1/4" is the way to go if you're buying for the circular saw.
Second, and this might not be an issue for some, but I really hate that the Ryobi jigsaws have no power lockout. I see this as as huge safety issue that causes inconvenience while using it since you have an exposed blade that requires nothing but a trigger pull to activate. Every other tool I have from them either requires a button hold at trigger pull or a toggle to turn on so if I'm setting the tool down between cuts I'm disconnecting the battery each time. Really not a fan of that, even if it's less immediately dangerous than say a circular say, but maybe it won't bother someone else. Think they're fine enough jigsaws otherwise.

Both are fine for extremely light/infrequent use but I wouldn't waste my money...save up and get something better.
