So the taps have several uses. One would be to chase threads to make sure they are clean and burr free. They do make chasing taps for that but a standard tap works.

This kit would be to drill a hole in metal, then use the tap to cut the threads for a screw or bolt.

LOL, just kidding.
Great deal on this, seriously. Even if you have a full set of taps/dies it's always good to have extras, especially the smaller sizes.
