No. The Pro (with DRAM) had issues, fixed with a firmware update. These ones haven't been affected by that issue.
They're both DRAMless so IMO they're both Hyundai's laugh out loud

The $120 normal price is cracking me up. Maybe this had an MSRP of $120 when it launched, but you can get a 990 Pro for less than $120/TB now and this is a 980 non-pro.

Can these be driven externally via USB 3 by an old win 7 laptop? Id invest in this now with the intent of installing it internally when I buy a new motherboard. I don't want to spend money on an outdated SATA interface but need more external storage now. Or is NVMe going to be a problem with Win 7? Id upgrade but my main app is not certified for Win 10.

There are some NVME enclosures on Amazon. They say Win 7 or higher would work with their device. But, you may not get the full speed of this drive.
