I've owned a very similar 27" set up like this for years and I really like it and it's held up very well.

BUT if I were to buy another Today, I would spend the extra $70 and get the 36" model. Because mine is packed to the gills and I ended up having to buying another to have enough room for my mechanics' tools.

https://slickdeals.net/f/16692752-36-husky-12-drawer-tool-chest-398-at-home-depot-ymmv?src=SiteSearch

This 27' has 13,650 cu in of storage space while the 36" has 21,471 cu in. So that's 50% more storage for only $70 more.

Also with the 27" the inside of the Drawer width is 23" (or less on the uppers). Which means I have 24"+ breaker bars, pry bars, torque wrenches and grabber tools that are too long to fit in the drawers (short of laying one tool in diagonally) .

Again, I'm not knocking the quality of this 27" box but if you're a degenerate SlickDealer like me who loves tools deals, this thing will fil up quickly. Fwiw, I've had mine since Sears, good Craftsman tools and SYWR points rolling was still a thing....

As a point of reference, harbor freight has the yellow 26" box that is deeper for $300- 15%(45)=265 and the top chest for 180. Meaning $445. Us general has 9800cu inches in the bottom and 5700cu inches in the top chest, net 15500cu inches. This husky set is 13650 cu.

Saw a couple of these in both grey and blue at the Chula Vista HD for this price if anyone's interested.

Saw this price while looking for one yesterday on their website. Ended up jumping on it and picking it up. Base of the unit is ~100 pounds so if you're moving it yourself be aware.

It fits my area perfect and for the price I couldn't pass it up. I don't plan on exposing it to a crazy amount of use so I expect it to last forever, hopefully.

Not a bad price at all for what it is, I like the color on this as well. Don't really need another tool box after I got those Hart ones from walmart a while back, but these aren't bad honestly.

Been holding out for a solid price on a tool chest so I jumped on this. Had 2 available at Three Rivers, MI store. I got one ready for pickup. Thanks OP I've been dying for a place to organize my tools 😅

So tempted by this. I have a lot of cabinets in my workshop. Limited drawers and not many small drawers. So not great small tool storage. Space is also a premium so I don't know if this would just be in the way now.

Bought this a few weeks ago for my new house and it's been great. Only complaint is that I wish it had a couple wider drawers instead of so narrow. but that's more of a personal problem/preference based on what I need to store. Very easy setup/install. Fit in my minivan with a little effort. You can't fit it in a sedan. I would recommend

The 36" deal has come and gone in most of the country, but I would agree while this is cheap, it's not as good of a value as paying a little more for a bigger box. It's better than my HDX 50$ special but it's still a pretty small box. Several better value investments have been suggested in the thread, unless you know what you own will fit in this and it's all you ever intend to own, I'd keep looking. Another IMHO better option is the 46" work bench: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky.../313615421

im so close to pulling the trigger but I was hoping to hold out for a black one. Why does it matter when I will probably be the only one looking at it 99% of the time? Also that larger one nottrollin mentioned also looks good.

also, can anyone tell me about the power strip? is there some cord that comes out the back of this thing? can it be tucked away if I don't use it? Seems kinda useless all things considered.

This doesn't have a power strip.

That isn't in stock anywhere. No point in recommending something that isn't available anywhere.

My local stores still have them. You just have to go in to the stores, you can't order online. So YMMV.
