Honestly wouldn't recommend. Mine failed within 7 months with heat errors Dell was unable to fix. The refurbished monitor was sent in the most flimsy box possible and broke in shipping. Dell left me without a working monitor for weeks as I battled with no help from their customer support.

Finally got a refund after reporting them to the BBB and Attorney General, but they mostly ignored me up until then. They have a good warranty on paper but they can't actually honor it. Beware.
Amex showing spend 599 or more at dell and get 120 cash back.
Owned this monitor for a year and have window icon burn in on the left side. Its like 30 icons left a shadow on light gray backgrounds. You see it in steam for example. Called dell and had to speak with someone from India 🇮🇳 took 2 hours of me calling back because their phones suck. I have a case number and they are supposed to send a refurb LOL, warranty just continues when I bought it so it don't reset.
oh its gsync and highly recommended for nvidia vid cards

42 c2 probably. You can set it to widescreen resolution when you want/need. I think this is the Alienware that can't be updated?

I would go for the C2 if you're hooking up a console at all. The jump in picture quality compared to other OLEDs isn't as dramatic as the specs say, they'll look very similar 90% of the time. If you want the smaller screen, Alienware is a good option though.

This one is the version that can be updated. The DW (gsync) model is the one that cannot be firmware updated.

QD-OLED makes it unusable for productivity work.
Because of burn in? or why?

The text is fuzzy because of the way sub pixels were laid out. Then again, some people don't notice it, kinda like some people can't tell the difference between 4k and 1080p.

The dwf is the model that can be updated. The gsync one (white color) cannot due to propietary Nvidia module.

I disagree with getting a C2 over this if it's going to be used mainly as a PC monitor. You'd need a service remote control to access hidden menu to disable some auto dimming and things that work on a TV but not on a computer. Even worse is the idea of setting the OLED TV to ultrawide because the pixela that are off will not degrade evenly with the rest of the display, so in many months or a year, those areas will be brighter than the rest of the screen.

I change monitors every 4 or so years and the last 5 monitors I've had were Dell. I have never had issues with them and they always lasted until I sold them so I can't vouch for their support, but their quality control is the best in my eyes.

I have this same monitor and wouldn't change it for any other one. The image quality is insane. It had some HDR issues at launch, but the latest firmware fixed everything.

edit: this video has good info on using LG OLED as monitor. https://youtu.be/io_AFseYleE

I had the 42" C2 (panel failed after only a few months) and now have the AW3423DWF. Although reasonable minds can differ, I far prefer the Dell for mixed productivity work and gaming. The factors that stand out for me: the LG's auto-dimming and input lag (with gsync enabled) made for a subpar desktop experience coming from a fast refresh gaming monitor. Of equal importance, notwithstanding the subpixel array, the Dell causes me far less eyestrain during long workdays reading and drafting documents than the LG did (possibly as a result of the curvature). Lastly, I discovered a 3080 just can't push butter smooth frames in 4k with ray tracing enabled in demanding games (eg Cyberpunk) even with DLSS. The Dell, by contrast, looks and feels fantastic while gaming. HDR on the Dell is also more impressive once calibrated to my eyes.

Obviously, the LG is better for viewing 4k media content and the added vertical real estate is nice. But fwiw, it looks awful and ultra noisy with compressed HD content (eg any older streaming content), and the LG OS is trash compared to the Roku built into my $200 TCL. I may pick up another 42" oled at some point (not for use as a desktop monitor), but I will definitely go Sony next time around.

PS5 doesn't support ultra wide resolutions natively

Finally someone else gets it. I've been flamed for a while for throwing Dell under the bus. Terrible PC company, along with HP.
