This is one of the best prices RIGHT NOW for a current 7900xtx card. The MERC is very large (and keeps the GPU very cool) so make sure it fits in your case (344 mm).
The base price is $919 and there is a $15-off coupon VGAEXCAA793 which I tested after I added the video card to my cart. Limit 2.
Video Card sales are at an 18-year low and we don't normally see a flagship card for 10%-off MSRP so soon in its lifecycle, just 7 months after release (Dec 13, 2022). I am an owner of a 7900xtx.
The AMD Radeon 7900 xtx is AMD's fastest card. It has very good ray tracing, on par with a 3090 card at 1440p and 4K. See
Tom's Hardware for Ray Tracing Benchmarks [tomshardware.com]. In rasterization is beats the NVidia RTX 4080 by 3%. It has improved h.264 and AV1 encoders (but still not exactly as good as NVidia). AMD has announced they are making ROCm compute libraries available for the 7900xtx FIRST, so AMD will have an equivalent to CUDA very very soon. With a high performance GPU you need not worry about motion smoothing or pixel generation as found in DLSS 3.0 which tries to band-aid NVidia's lower price/performance GPUs.

Also, the thought that the 7900xtx will work for less time is just utter bullshit.
I think customers will have to get used to graphics card prices NOT scaling much at end of Moore's law. Clock frequencies stopped scaling in roughly 2010. GPUs are massively parallel so instead, AMD & NVidia have added MORE parallel CU's to keep the performance scaling. Now, RAM has stopped scaling down AT ALL. AMD is fighting this (working harder than NVidia) and has MCDs and PCDs chiplets in the 7900xtx and 7900xt so the RAM can be on different chips. You are getting the first chiplet GPU in history which is a BIG DEAL and which took FIVE YEARS to invent (2017-2022) and if this doesn't work then everyone can just surrender to NVidia higher prices - forever - everyone is screwed if chiplets do not succeed they were not simple to invent !!
Lots of reviewers pissed on the 7900-series RDNA3 architecture but that's because not all of their chips clock to 3 Ghz as hoped. Some of these GPUs DO clock to 3.3 Ghz and DO beat the 4090 if you push them! But yields were inconsistent and AMD had to de-rate the RDNA chips to 2.5Ghz and they lost 17% of their performance ... Well when you completely redesign your GPU from SCRATCH you have a right to leave a few things unfinished when you are pushing the forefront of tech so hard right now ...
Anyway, these prices are actually pretty good given the dark situation from device physics.
