I came from a 3500 and liked it a lot. This has a better UI, including a 4K OSD and much better HEOS screen. I don't really get the complaints about the look of the volume meter. It's simple and functional and looks better than the one on my 3500.
I run a 5.1.2 setup in a 16 x 20 room with Focal speakers and an SVS sub, and I have more than enough power to make listening uncomfortable.

This price range puts them in the same price range after purchasing Dirac Live(if they choose to purchase it).
Keep in mind sometime next year D/M will get the option to the other half of Dirac RC…DLBC, the RZ50 will not.
I would argue you do pay for Dirac, it's just rolled into the price.
Without Dirac I don't think $1300 for Onkyo would be as good a buy with it.
Personally I think its two horns on the same goat...with neither offering any big deal over the other with pluses and minuses for both
The license is $349 for the Denon and you will need the necessary calibration mic that is about $100-125

One big important "plus" IMO is preference, just look how people continue to buy Yamaha.
Room Correction is another as you can tell how many people want Dirac.
Having BOTH Dirac RCs(DL & DLBC) is great, having the option of both is a big "plus" IMO.
Personally DLBC is slightly more important, I think Dirac does too, since their new ART is largely based on it.

Yes..there are preferences. I personally have had probably the best reliability and best customer service with Yamaha products...so I can understand that
DLBC is not available in a Denon/Marantz product now
Additionally, as I said before, I dont think all those add ons of DIRAC and the needed mic make sense at this price point
If I was on a tighter budget , and wanted Dirac, I would buy the Onkyo. if I liked the Denon I would buy the Denon and use Audyssey

I thought it was funny that after months of searching I finally pulled the trigger on RZ50 from Amazon when I saw 1099 price yesterday afternoon ... Then I see this deal and start questioning everything again

Really ugly to see giant big black boxes for the volume display every time you change it, though.
