Depends on your needs, this one has no minileds but better processing.
Since I'll use it as a PC monitor I'll go for the 6 series as my computer will do the processing itself.
I believe this is on par with the 6 series, q8 series would be a step up.

Its a new TV, rtings hasn't reviewed it yet, but they'll get to it eventually.

ah, thanks. Just saw a review of it and its dimmer than the old Q6, under 1000 nits. I guess I'd need the q8 since it's in a bright living room.

I think exactly the opposite way. Wait for a smoking deal on a TV, then replace it every 2-3 years while still getting back the majority of original price selling off the old TV. No way I could keep a TV for a decade just because I overpaid for the best at the time. TV tech advances far too quickly to be stuck with something for that long.
If you're buying lower-end TVs, like LED, Mini LED or QLED, then yes, I agree with replacing them every few years. Not if we're talking OLED or QD-OLED. None of these newer non-OLEDs compare with OLEDs that are even 5+ years old. I have no problem keeping my C2 for at least 5 years. My friend's 5-year-old LG C9 still looks far better than any of these TVs.

5 years? lol. I'm not buying your C2 for half the price next year.

Because it's too low-end. They don't review every TV. Even at full price, this thing is cheap. There's no such thing as a nice TV this large, for this cheap.
They review 4 series TCLs and many crappy Fire TVs. Not sure what you are talking about.

QM8 is very overpriced. Q7 or the 6 series seem to hit the sweet spot. If I am willing to spend money, I rather go with OLED.
To be fair, 65" QM8 is $1200 while 65" S90C is over $2000. LG G3 is pushing $3000.

Q7 is in the lab... https://www.rtings.com/review-pipeline
I guess it can't be too low-end... it beat some OLEDs to the table...

I'd get the QM8 personally. You'll have this TV for what, 5-10 years or so? Do you really want to watch something that isn't an outstanding TV for the next 10 years? If you get the Q7, you'll always look at it and wonder "man, wonder what the QM8 would have looked like here..."

Plus, the QM8 is on sale right now for 1699.
That's a tough sell on the QM8 when the Q7 is 999.99. Who keeps tvs for 10 years anymore. Lol

That's not true at all. The q7 is this year's 6 series. It's a really good set and they just came out. It takes them time to rigorously test
