Yep, and NSF 372 is a bullshit certification. It doesn't qualify the filter as reducing lead contamination, it only certifies that the filter itself doesn't contain an appreciable amount of lead.
NSF 53 (filters out heavy metals and germs) and 401 (filters out various chemical contaminants) is what you want for a quality filter.
You're right, you don't know anything about water filters. These are among the most common aftermarket filters and are high quality and very common on SD

I'm having a hard time finding a filter for my Whirlpool I just bought. My model (WRS571CIHV) says it takes EDR1RXD1 filter. Was anyone able to find a deal on those? I have a well and am trying to reduce the egg smell as much as possible, it's not bad now but enough for my wife and kids to not want to drink it.
There really aren't any deals on Whirlpool filters because they switched to Everydrop exclusively and Everydrop sues anyone who creates generics. So basically you're forced to buy Everydrop and they're not only expensive but there are a lot of complaints about them.
That said, I'm in the same predicament so I've had to suck it up and buy Everydrop filters because I like my fridge otherwise. The only discount I can find is a subscription discount so go ahead and subscribe if you change them out regularly. I go through whirlpool for 20% off each subscription filter but if you have a lot of subscriptions through Amazon, it might be cheaper with their 15% off: https://www.whirlpool.com/accesso...rxd1.html?

As far as finding one, just search Amazon for EDR1RXD1--they sell the Everydrop filters, and they are pricey. Unfortunately it does not appear that Waterdrop manufactures a EDR1RXD1 (Whirlpool 1) filter--not listed on Amazon or their own website.
They switched to Everydrop exclusively which is why you can't find the old filter numbers listed on the fridge anymore. Only Everydrop and no generics.

How do these compare to Everydrop filters? Everydrop is so expensive, but I'm worried that these won't filter out as much contaminants.
When looking at replacement filters look for the certifications. You want ones that meet NSF 53 and 401. Those filters filter lead and certain chemicals that can be found in water. See this previous comment:

These have just NSF 42 and 372. Waterdrop Plus has NSF/ANSI 401, 53, 42 & 372. NSF 53 is the one that decreases contaminants that are health-related.

I think the Waterdrop PLUS is entirely comparable. Those have the same certifications as the Everydrop and the water tastes great. I've tried some other off brands of filters (including the regular Waterdrop) and I find the water has a chemical-y/plastic taste to it with many of them and it made my ice weird smelling. So far I've never had that with the Waterdrop PLUS.
had bad experiences with generic filters - finding slimy clear film in my cups after a while. Think i'll stick with Whirlpool EveryDrop brand for the edr3rxd1 filter my Kenmore uses
Same here. I've had 2 Waterdop filters rupture. Their customer service sux. They tried saying it was the fault of the refrigerator or that the water pressure was too high.. Total BS. I also stick to Whirlpools every drop. Never had an issue and it's most definitely not my water pressure or refrigerator.

I've been using these filters for a few years now with zero issues.
I've had great experiences with waterdrop. I have the under sink reverse osmosis system and it works well. Our water test showed a significant decrease in all low level contaminants. Customer service has been really stellar too. When I went on vacation I didn't realize I needed to pull the cartridges and put them in the refrigerator because we were gone for more than 10 days. They sent free replacements for two of the three cartridges.

I bought these last week for 48.99 for 3. Not the great bargain above but better than nothing. My icemaker had stopped working. Had no idea not changing the filter could do that. Started working again immediately.
What are the chances! I literally just bought a 3pk and just saw this now. I bought it at a similar price and it looks to be the same seller for my GE fridge lol
