I bought 2 trimmer from Panasonic, it always stops working after roughly a year.
I'm going on about 10 years on my non-vacuum version. My guess is some aren't cleaning it out and that's burning up the motor. I rinse with water multiple times throughout one use session. The vacuum sound like a downside to me as it seems more failure prone and rinsing in water regularly lowers the friction of cutting.
Biggest problem I have with them is that blade rotation speed is hit and miss.
Like the battery is weak and makes bad contact. ( when the battery is fresh) And the blades are clean.
Havent't found a permanent fix. I think I had two or three of these, all developed the same issues.
I always have to open the battery compartment and wiggling/twisting/rotating the battery to eventually get them up to a decent speed.

That sounds like corrosion on the battery terminals. I suppose that could happen in a humid bathroom environment.

For me it is the battery contact that separated over time. I added a piece of tin foil between the battery and trimmer contact and it's been working like new ever since.
I had used these (a few different models over the years) for 20+ years and took a chance on the Conair one that was on sale for $10 a month ago. The Conair is 100x better than the Panasonic. It cuts closer and the motor doesn't constantly stall out like the Panasonic does.
