Will be perfect for light gaming, idk about the wattage though. The previous ideapad 5 pro model with the Ryzen 6600hs was pretty good, the specs are better on this, so should be better than the previous one, idk about battery life though, rest everything should be good I think, yes it's priced well too for the specs..

Is this type of laptop functional for simulation / strategy games like Civilization, Anno series, Europa Universalis, etc? I can never figure out what level laptop I need for non-FPS / racing / high frame rate games. I would just like my strategy game textures and shadows, etc to look beautiful...

There's better choices for a stronger gpu at this price range I think, the stronger the gpu and more vram too means better graphics, this is a 3050 with 6 gb, good for 1080p gaming only, can't go qhd with playable fps I feel for AAA games, for more future proofing though I'd always suggest going a gpu with more vram. The HP omen for 800 or 750 is a good deal I feel, amd gpu though but 8 gb vram and strong raster performance by the 6650, better than this 3050 I feel, but that's arguable and sometimes subjective too, for the price both laptops are great, with hp you get a better gpu but a poorer display - fhd screen and lesser brightness, but i guess you could consider that too

Also wondering. I know Lenovo puts aluminum frames on many of their "pro" laptops, but I can't find confirmation other than some vague marketing about it being "military grade" on the product page.

If you work for a company that has Perks at Work you can get another $50 off. Just ordered one a couple days ago for $845.

Just a quick note. If you need any kind of customer or warranty support from Lenovo it will be nonexistent. I ordered a Motorola phone from them on 6/21 to be delivered on 6/26 and today 7/14 it still says waiting to be shipped. I have called or chatted at least 7 times and I get the standard answer of we will send this to escalation department. Please wait 24 to 48 hours. 48 hours later I get the same answer. I have been told twice to call Motorola and they just chuckle and say sir that is not our order number please call Lenovo. Check out some of the complaint boards on their warranty service also.

I have to say, as always, thank you for serving.

For anyone wondering about the build quality, I received mine today and if it isn't aluminum, it's darn impressive plastic. The color is very similar to Apple's "Space Gray" and the touch of the material on the lid and bottom is similar to Apple's anodized aluminum. Definitely, definitely not the ruggedized laptop you would expect from something "military grade", but if you want Lenovo's version of a MacBook in terms of color and feel, this may be the closest you get. Not mind-blowingly impressed, but I am happy with it.

Why is it better than the ryzen one? Can you tell me the main benefits?

Better CPU and GPU, newer model so newly manufactured.. idk about other things different in this model.. i havent done any research, just giving my opinion from the published specs, so 100 $ for a better cpu and gpu, might be worth it for some, if all things being the same from the previous model, it should be worth it..
