I don't trust Amazon with used products. You can receive anything - different brand or even incandescent bulb.

Sweet deal, can return for free, I'm guessing these are returns, they are still in the original packaging from Amazon Warehouse

I mean, that's just the luck of the draw isn't it? Sometimes we get brand new items at a heavy discount otherwise if it isn't satisfactory we can easily return it.

I've backed away a little from AWH purchases. They don't rigorously test items. They visually look at the physical condition of the item and/or box. If you don't mind getting something with a missing screw, a small dent, scratch, needs a little TLC, and as above the wrong item or broken sometimes. For a while I was returning 20-25 percent of my purchases, and didn't want to get flagged for being a chronic returner.

In the case of these Philips bulbs I purchased a two pack a couple months ago from the warehouse and they work fine.

Yeah I got 8 of the two packs of these a few weeks ago when they were on SD and 4 of them were 100% brand new without a broken seal. The boxes weren't even damaged so I'm confused how they classified them as "used". Definitely luck of the draw but 8/10 times I've always come out ahead with brand new items for dirt cheap!

Isn't that the point of warehouse deals to get something with a small part missing, a dent, etc? The money I've saved buying warehouse deals is easily worth the nuisance of getting a bad one every now and then. I've had stuff sent to me that was basically an empty box, and I was worried that they would assume I'm trying to scam them, but they always take it back or tell me to keep it, no questions asked.

LED light bulbs have a limited lifespan - who is to say that the one you get is indeed "like new" and hasn't been used for 5000 hrs already?

That's a fair point. I guess it's just up to the individual consumer to decide if the discount is worth the possibility of it not being truly "like new".

I agree, I've gotten some great deals through the warehouse. I usually will pay a little more for a like new item, and receive something that it isn't. That can be annoying. I'm not sure how much you buy from Amazon, or what your return rate, they will ban people without warning. I'm cautious of that.

Though Amazon is mum about the criteria for getting banned. Amazon bans customers who return too many products, according to The Wall Street Journal. This is a practice that's used by traditional retailers, but Amazon shouldn't act like its brick-and-mortar competitors.

What causes a shopper to be banned from Amazon?

Amazon customers posting to social news aggregation site Reddit have some theories. They speculate in lengthy threads whether there's a precise return-to-purchase ratio that might result in getting someone banned, with the most common number cited at around 20 percent of purchases. Based on the Reddit threads and articles about bans, it also seems that excessive returns on electronics are a likelier impetus for an account suspension than, say, clothing or books. One Redditor experienced a ban after returning a DSLR camera; another man profiled in the Guardian article was a self-proclaimed "electronics junkie" who purchased 246 items in 2015 alone, and returned many expensive electronic items (that had failed, he said) before getting banned.

Philips HUE are rated 25000 hours using LM-80 test method. That means after 25000 hours, LED bulb will produce 80% of initial lumens.
