I had to return mine because when the disk spun up, it sounded like marbles in a blender.
They have since fallen off a cliff and are indeed a terrible company to do business with.
That said, buying an Xbox, you're likely ok.
I'm guessing a big tech YouTuber did a video on Newegg and now people have spent years repeating their opinion as fact. That's generally how computer threads go.

No edu address unfortunately...and I've accumulated $200 accumulated thru Microsoft rewards, and will have accumulated another $75 by black Friday, so I'm sure Amazon will have a nice bundle from by then to xmas... I could get it now but I'm a cheap sob
