Did the price start going up? Wasn't this free with one month?
It was free (+$40) when I bought it about 4 months ago. The price increased shortly thereafter. It's still a great price for a phone with these specs, if you're on Metro or can deal with the unlock wait.

Yeah I got one in Dec. decent phone but just a little too broad in my hands. Also some apps just didn't seem to be optimized for the size and seemed stretched/ cut off.
It was a backup phone. So I didn't mind. Had turned into a paperweight after the charm ran out.
Sold it locally via Craigslist last week for 2x what I paid so I won't complain at all.
But I was happy with the phone in general for what I paid. Smooth, fast, monthly updates, no blot.
It's a pretty decent phone for the price. I got it back in December also for 1 month of service. However, it's still working with full cell service even after it was supposed to stop back in mid January. Lol.. I don't need service on it now, but I guess it's kind of good.
so, I have this phone.
I was able to unlock it after 6 months. Yesterday, it downloaded and updated "Android Security Updates".
Now it shows "locked". Before it showed "unlocked:
Yes, I did restart it many times, still shows locked.
Also it no longer let me to click on it (the "locked" thing").
Did they fix the loophole with "Android Security Updates"?

Same for me. But even with the status showing as locked, it still works with non-metro sims. So its still behaving the same as before. Just sharing my experience, not sure if that's the case with everyone.

So same thing has happened to your phone?
Was this month update caused this issue?
Because I also have second phone. I didn't let it to update since Feb, It shows unlocked.

Yes. And what I have observed is that the status showing 'locked' has no impact as both my mint and tmobile prepaid sims are working fine on the device.
