Decent price, had a couple of times where there was a slightly cheaper deal, but is eligible for the Starfield bundle.

Also sold at best buy, if that's your thing:

If you want bang for buck upgrade, it's the 5600 that's floating around for $130 or recently 5600x $133. Go for the 5800X3D if you want the best gaming AM4 chip.

Yeah basically this. 5700x or 5600/x and save money unless wanting new motherboard features or something in am5 but if I had an am4 platform already, I'd wait for gen2 before hopping onto am5 or just monitor prices and try to snipe a $280 7900 if that comes up again then build around it

All new tech has an upgrade tax for new industry standards. AIB partners also pay more for new specs until that reduces over time. That's why console makers can improve margins a bit and leverage die shrinks for cut down cut on internal components.

Intel has a history of requiring new sockets with only two gen upgrades. AMD since 2017 has had 3-4 gens and AM5 will go into 2026. The only reason Intel 14th gen is going to be on LGA 1700 is because they scrapped plans to delay the transition, and decided to only do a new socket for mobile. 15th gen will definitely be on a new socket, and the cycle repeats with a new socket tax.
