What? lol. What does MIDI have to do with an electric guitar and what the heck is "MIDI'd out"? lol.
Most Digital Effects Processors like the Line 6 Helix digitally modify the sound which is analog to Digital and then back to Analog. Those interfaces loosely stated are called MIDI interfaces. Long of the short is that you can make your Guitar sound like a Piano but that would be an extreme. So squeezing an Acoustic sound out of a NON-PIEZO pickup would require one of these processors. I can't go into more detail without writing a white paper Smilie

MIDI is a musical device specific digital language used to represent note, pitch, patch values. It has nothing to do with the actual audio path. A MIDI interface is a device that connects to your PC to interact with those devices. Since they are typically part of a USB audio interface these days, we call them audio/MIDI interfaces. You are misrepresenting the term.

Any acoustic simulator pedal can get you in the ballpark and they don't require anything to do with MIDI.

Thanks to the OP (Please give Reps if you got this deal or if you think this was a good deal) and the trolls can come leave as they have in the prior decade. Got it price matched at GC so If I don't like it its an easy return. First hollow body, I had to really work hard to get over my own prejudices.

Technically, he is correct and you are correct. Musical Instrument Digital Interface is just a set of instructions originally created so that digital instruments could talk to each other. The USB MIDI wasn't introduced for another 10 years after that. There are DSP devices that take analog sounds like guitar and voice and convert them to MIDI where they can be manipulated by the software in the device and then returned as new sounds either analog or digital. A DSP device is not necessarily personal computer. It could be a mixer, a stomp box, or some other digital appliance.

Yes, you could make a guitar sound like a piano. That's the power and joy of MIDI.

You're really muddying the water here... Converting guitar audio into MIDI information requires a MIDI pickup. Once it is encoded, it cannot be decoded as audio. It can only trigger another instrument that can receive MIDI to then generate a tone.

To the previous point, the Helix family of products does not convert audio into MIDI at present time (maybe 3.7 firmware lol). It can only send and receive MIDI to control or be controlled by other MIDI devices. There was really no need for MIDI to ever enter the conversation and you don't need a Helix or even an HX Stop to achieve the result. You can grab a $31 acoustic simulator pedal on Amazon. It's funny that you reference DSP devices, because that is that the Helix is... not a "MIDI interface". The term "interface" suggest that two separate systems are interacting, which is not the case in this context.
