I ordered two and received one of each, returned the BOE one and contacted Amazon support and asked for a note to be put on my account to get a REV L0IT111 model with my next order. They said they would do that and I received a LG replacement, not sure if it was just luck, or if they actually have a way to communicate with the warehouse.

It looks like HP prints the panel type on a sticker on the box or the back of the display. If you look through the amazon reviews you'll see pictures of that label. The LG panel is "LIM101" or "LIM111", and the BOE panel is "BIM111"

Thanks. Taking the chance. If it arrives with a BOE panel I'll immediately return it. But based on reviews it sounds like it's a lottery and people do still get LG panels.

How can you tell the manufacturer of the panel?

Is the panel difference even really that significant? I've heard mixed opinions on this.

I don't know, but there seem to be plenty reviews complaining about flickering and poor colors and bad viewing angle with the inferior BOM panels. I don't have personal experience but the amount of bad reviews blaming the BOM panels is enough where I just don't want it. Especially when better can be had at this price point.

Blacks aren't black black with this screen. More of a saturated gray. I'm having fun with it though. I love the color and clarity while gaming

What's the difference between the Q, S, and QS? On Prime Day, Bestbuy had the QS down to $299 - while Amazon only had the Q. Wondering if that one is worth waiting for.

From what I can see. QS is IPS and 240Hz. But that's about it. Rtings doesn't have a review of it up.

That's the case with every budget IPS panel. You have to spend a lot more to get one with a lot of local dimming zones to get anywhere near black with an IPS. I'll take the grey-blacks, better colors, and higher response times over the smearing on a VA panel any day of the week, though. I run a QD-OLED ultra-wide as my main monitor and the LG as a secondary. The LG is pretty jarring next to the OLED, but it's still great for the price.

From what I could find, the only difference I could find between the Q and QS are the refresh rate, speakers, and USB-hub. They both have the same brightness and all other specs. Speakers on a gaming monitor are all but useless (they almost always sound like crap), and most people can't tell the difference in refresh rate after about 144hz. I'd get the cheaper one, but check the label on the box before you open it. They randomly ship these with either an LG or a BOE panel. The LG panel is superior. Unless you game for a living, you probably won't be able to tell the difference between 165hz and 240hz. There's a minor decrease in input lag if you have the hardware to push the panel to 240hz, but it's incredibly small and not really worth the extra money for the vast majority of people.

I got this on prime day and as a console player, it checks most of the boxes being a 1440p monitor. Still trying to sort the settings out since rtings hasn't reviewed it yet.
