Anyone got rejected at TM store when returning/dropping off trade-in phones, even though the associate claimed you can drop them off?

thats normal. because they are responsible for your trade-in if things go wrong. unless you buy phone from them.

While I totally understand the associate doesn't want to be responsible, I was rejected because they couldn't find the appropriate promo on their display system. Like what?

That, plus I was told to drop the phone by the person who helped me at TM/Costco make me irritated.

they don't want to get dinged in case something happens with your trade ins

was the store a corporate store? Usually corporate stores are a bit easy going.
I personally shipped all 4 of mine out.

It's corporate, and the same one in costco.

I was gonna send mine, but during the initial "purchase", the associate told me just to come to the store to drop the trade ins.

There's always something with TM

I ended up shipping back as well. I guess they lied to me about not taking the phone back at non-corporate store. I had no idea you can own T-Mob franchise.

yeah. they didn't seem to indicate for how long, but based on what they mentioned and previous anecdotal experiences mentioned here, i do think you have to use the phone for atleast few days (for it to register on their portal) which would probably trigger the gift card.
Is this true? You can't get the GC until you actually used the phones? I was going to flip them on Craigslist for sale.

I got this deal by calling and all were set

Now when I printed trade in device shipping label those IMEI shows on receipt doesn't match what I told him not sure where the hell he got those IMEIs...I traded 2 devices.

Will I get my trade in rejected?

Do I need to call them and get the receipt updated???

This is crazy
Same thing happened to me. I think they just use a generic code if you turn in old crappy phones. I am not worried.

I was just thinking this can't be true. Costco has no way of tracking this. I think as long as the trade-in/upgrade is done on the T-Mob side and they get their commission, that is where it ends.

Still waiting and seeing. T-Mob is usually good with this even if there is a problem. It's just we will have to waste time calling them.

In this case, it's not because employees don't like to take trade-in phones. The T-Mobile trade-in system is currently broken for the old phones that don't automatically load manufacturer/model/carrier which means its exact manufacturer/model/carrier is not in T-Mobile's database and you had to select "only moto edge 230021" as the manufacturer/model/carrier when you placed your order.
My local T-Mobile employee was very nice and we even tried a test using a dummy iphone's imei and the drop down list to select manufacturer/model/carrier was showing but after we changed the imei to the tracfone flip phone, the drop-down list to select manufacturer/model/carrier doesn't load (kind of greyed out) and there was no way to select "only moto edge 230021" and we got stuck there.

My local T-Mobile employee still took my trade-in phones and they printed out the shipping labels, packaged them and let usps pick up them from the t-mobile store.
They also told me that this bug might be fixed in the next few days.
I had the same issue today
