Heads up, I've taken advantage of deals like this before, and more than once they've coincided with some sort of hotel construction. Not saying that's a bad thing as I'm not someone to hang out at a hotel, but it can be an inconvenience for some. Y'all may want to call and check prior to booking. This seems like a fair deal. The only disadvantage is if you're a Marriot Bonvoy member you don't get credited for your stay because of the third party booking, but it appears the savings is decent. That's all I have to say about that.

What is the disadvantage? I booked a 3rd Party that was 50% off a much nicer hotel in Key Largo a few yrs ago - Bakers Cay. 3rd Party had barely been around at the time (Zen Hotels) . I simply called the hotel to confirm the reservation afterwards. Travel Zoo has been around for a long time - I've never used it.

ps - I am also a wsp fan.

Various videos about how 3rd party booking sites can pass incorrect info to the hotelier (e.g. bed and room size), and how if they book solid then 3rd party reservations are the first to be walked. Also if there's an issue with the reservation, that's between you and the 3rd party site, not the hotel itself, so you're left calling and hoping someone will answer.

I guess they are OK so long as you are aware you're saving money by taking on some risk.

speaking as a slickdealer, and not as staff but as always, remember that my personal opinion(s) do not reflect those of slickdeals, inc.

so i recently posted a deal for the normandy hotel in washington, dc via travelzoo. the price was excellent for the metro dc area. i purchased that deal and my trip has come and gone. i could not be more pleased with the location, service and room.

of course, everything is hit or miss and one thing that surprised me nicely was there was a 5-6 pm complimentary wine hour every evening.

proof that i went in case you think i'm full of it.

Fairfield by Marriott? Low end hotel. I made the mistake of staying here several times. Leaves much to be desired.

Exactly. I have had REALLY good success by CALLING the hotel directly (not the national booking number) and asking if they'll rate match the 3rd party booking company. They have almost always (~ 18/20) been willing to match it, save themselves the commission they'd have to pay and fills a room, plus I benefit with my status and points, etc.

Depends on what you mean by low end. It's a standard mood level hotel like holiday inn express. It's above stuff like motel 6 or travel lodge.

It's Florida. It rains every day in the summer. I'd be more cautious about the heat.. better in October.. not so brutally hot.

They vary greatly, just like every Marriott and every Hilton varies greatly. I have stayed in Fairfield Inns that have had nicer/cleaner rooms than some Marriotts/Sheratons/Hiltons. Most of it depends on the most recent updates/renovations. I have stayed in hotels over 75 nights a year (sometimes 100+) for the past 20 years so I have seen more hotels than most.

This one is a Fairfield Inn & Suites, which is generally nicer and larger than just a Fairfield Inn. There are many places to check reviews before you stay but just stating that a Fairfield Inn will be low-end and a bad experience is not an educated statement, nor is it fact. Yes, there are expectations for certain brands but there is more to it than just the name of the hotel.
