I got in with the orginal deal without any issues. There was a lot of misinformation in the orginal thread, but yes, all you have to do it just activate the phone with the fi app, then take the Fi SIM out and never touch it again (sock drawer it, trash it, etc). You can pop in a SIM from another carrier with no problem. After 120 days have passed you can verify that it's finalized in your fi account > savings > earned. At that point you can do whatever you want, the discount is yours to keep.

I think a significant difference here is we are not getting the storage upgrade for free? I got this deal last time but got the s23 ultra with 512gb for the same price as they are offering the 256gb.

Are you a member of someone's Group Plan? If yes, only the Group Owner can see the discount and order the phones for members of the group. See this post and a few posts after it. https://slickdeals.net/f/16804301-google-fi-256gb-samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra-unlocked-smartphone-various-colors-600-more-w-existing-fi-account-free-s-h?p=165196124#post165196124

I don't know why then. Might have to call Fi support and ask them.

Im not the one you were replying to but your tip before editing your post helped me a lot. I have not been able to see any Fi credits on my acct because my old cancelled account is stuck up in reactivation mode. Customer service tried to tell me I only had like $5 in credit when I knew I have $166 mostly from excess trade in from last winter's deal on the s22. By renabling the app on my phone I am able to see the credits. Not sure if its worth doing this deal because my service would be paid for I think but I want the deal to be sweeter like last year.

just a minor correctionm . the device comes with a physical sim card. So you will need to remove the one provided and use your primary one. Donot forget to remove the Google FI app before removing Google FI SIM else you will get constant notifications .

Sounds like "hacklovemaster" who posted yesterday at 1:08pm Central did it just a few days ago. I haven't seen any changes that would keep it from working.

I signed up to Fi using a card from Amazon. As an existing customer, I ordered the deal on S23 Ultra. When it came, it activated using a SIM card that was pre installed. Now it's telling me it was activated by a new customer. I pulled the SIM and put the Amazon purchased SIM. I did that this morning. Will it correct itself? Anyone have a similar situation?

It sounds like its screwed up by activating it with the pre-installed sim. This is going to require chat and asking there level 1 chat to escalate to a "specialist"

I will defer to hpham_53 if he disagrees as he is more knowledgable about the process but I am pretty sure this is the deal

Activating the S23 with its pre-installed SIM is the correct action. Did you install the Fi app on the S23, log into the Fi app with the account that was used to purchase the S23 and activate the SIM? If yes to those questions, then sounds like you ordered the S23 too soon (before Fi system fully recognized that you have an active line) and Fi system did not pre-assign the SIM in the S23 with the phone number of the BYOP SIM. Did the Fi app ask to transfer service from your BYOP phone to the S23?

How long did you wait after activating the BYOP SIM before ordering the S23? Was your 1st bill already created at that time?

Putting the BYOP SIM into the S23 will not resolve your problem. Fi pairs each SIM to a particular phone's IMEI.

My first bill was Aug 12. I activated on Aug 15. It was showing the phone as activated by a new member regardless of SIM. I deleted the app and put the "new" SIM that shipped with the phone. I downloaded the FI app and it went through activation. When I go to billing, it's no longer there. Hoping it corrects itself overnight when it phones home to Fi. If not, I guess try opening a chat or returning? Hope not because I did a flawless install of Whitestone Glass!
