I got in with the orginal deal without any issues. There was a lot of misinformation in the orginal thread, but yes, all you have to do it just activate the phone with the fi app, then take the Fi SIM out and never touch it again (sock drawer it, trash it, etc). You can pop in a SIM from another carrier with no problem. After 120 days have passed you can verify that it's finalized in your fi account > savings > earned. At that point you can do whatever you want, the discount is yours to keep.

I think a significant difference here is we are not getting the storage upgrade for free? I got this deal last time but got the s23 ultra with 512gb for the same price as they are offering the 256gb.

Can this phone be used with another person's Fi sim or any other sim without affecting the deal?
The phone can be used with any non-Fi SIM. If you use it with another person's Fi SIM, the Fi app will transfer service from that person's phone (tied to his Fi SIM) to the S23 phone and screws up your promotion. Simillarly, if you use the S23's Fi SIM in another phone, Fi will transfer the S23's Fi service to that other phone and screws up your promotion.

Not surprised. Don't think deals will get worse between now and the s24 release
Worse meaning is good or bad? Will we see this extended to new users?

I dont think it will get worse meaning it will get better because they need to clear out inventory for the s24

As far as new customers, its hard to say. Normally I would say yes however I think they realized that a lot of people just get the phone and do not continue service past the min requirement so would not be surprised if they keep the 24 mo bill credits

The fact is that Fi is not a competitive provider for the single person

Makes sense. I think they would have to do the new customer sale just to clear out the inventory. Fi is way too expensive for a sub standard provider.

That depends on whether or not they actually need to clear out their inventory. The S23 models get many favorable reviews and are still in demand 7 months after release. You don't see much discount for them at Samsung, Best Buy, Amazon, etc.

Alright a little update for yall.

Ordered my wife's s23 on the 15th, it arrived on the 21st. S23 said fi was active on another phone do I want to transfer, hit yes, data, calls, texts work.

Today, the 22nd. I see a yellow exclamation mark. A new fi member activated the device. Chat with google who submitted a ticket and now I wait. Will update for others.

If I were you I'd return the phone of it's still within return period. Fi is not "friendly" or easily accessible when it comes to promo hiccups. Expect a good fight to get that promo.

That transfer was from her BYOP SIM to her S23, correct?

....and some people know about deals but don't want to do them. I told some friends about the money I made selling all the free iPhone11's that I got from Tracfone with Rewards points I earned from referring people, and all these Fi deals. They were envious but they claimed the deals were too complicated or they don't have time. Heck, they're retired IT people like me, have lots of free time on their hands (to go play golf or fish), and they're not dumb. They're either too rich or don't enjoy chasing good deals.

I was confused by the Tracfone deal. I never used them. The iPhone 11 through Metro thought you had to go into a retail store which I heard was a nightmare
