14mph is only about 4mph faster than a hubless scooter for kids. Without LiFE/Lipo battery upgrade (read: $$$), this is way too slow/small for a tween.

I bought one of these for my son when he was about 7 years old. He loved it. If you're on the fence about this, buy it. It's a great price.
The only thing to keep in mind is that that batteries need to be replaced often. I've heard there are hacks that allow you to use 18 volt cordless drill batteries.

Will this have enough juice to jump the Grand Canyon if I deck it out Evil Knievel style?! 🙄

So in my neighborhood these have come out of no where like a fungus and even though I'm far from a helicopter parent I think these are an accident waiting to happen.

Like many have said, it's 5, 6, 7 year olds running around on these. 14 mph, 150 lbs is not a good combo for such a young kid to be whizzing by in the park, near the playground, on the sidewalks and walking paths. I think it's just a matter of time before a toddler gets flattened by one of these.

Another comment on social commentary, no wonder I see sooo many obese kids. Too many happy meals and no one rides a bike any more, all electric scooters and bikes.

It's a parent's decision; but a big factor could be that most live in places where they have larger yards and more rural. Probably not ideal for kids that live in a culdesac or higher amount of traffic with small yards.

Times have changed; if you can get a parent to get their kid off their tablet or console and spend 3+ hours playing outdoors nearly every day during the summer; that's probably a win for them. If we 80s, 90s kids spent more than 3 hours a day inside during the summer, we were probably grounded.

And I might add that, that was torture! 😭

Maybe if you get a steep enough ramp you could potentially jump anything

A little under 3 seconds if you drop it from a plane.

About to two from Walmart over a year ago for $100 each, on clearance. The only negative part it is the battery type however, it works fine. . I weigh 170 lb and ride this thing around sometimes. Even driven this thing with my four year old niece who weighs 45 lb. Mainly I got it so my niece and nephews can ride when they're over at my house.

This thing is supposed to be for 13 and up. But there's no way it fits teenagers correctly.

Just ordered one for my 3 year old for Christmas! He'll be 4 by then and has been a daredevil on anything with wheels, so this should be perfect!

Fantastic four my 7yo. I think the 4yo could handle it fine too.

I changed the throttle to a variable one as the stock is on/off. Also added a speed limiter to work the kiddo up to max power.
Are there any other mods you done to it. Like a battery mod to an 18v? I've had mine for over a year. And haven't done anything. The battery is starting to wear a little bit but I've been pretty lucky as it's only slightly degraded.

fyi, police departments are beginning to ban electric bicycles without pedals, they are categorizing them as e-motorcycles and making them illegal
