Proprietary fan connectors so you can't even use normal fan headers/5v RGB headers
Must install thermaltake software to have any control over these fans
I'm failing to see how this is a good deal when you can just buy 2-3 sets of Thermalright RGB fans for roughly the same amount of money. The Thermalright fans use normal fan headers, normal 5V RGB headers, and the RGB/Fan hubs Thermalright uses are Sata powered so no need to add a whole extra molex connector to your system just for one thing. There is also no need to take up a USB header or install any extra software just to control the fans. The Thermalright fans are the same CFM and RPM but are actually a tiny bit quieter. You can even buy them in white or black to match your build colors.

I almost actually got these for my kids setup but went with Deepcool fans that were on sale during a lightning sale last night for less than these Thermaltake fans and are argb pmw fans too.
The issue with the Thermalright ones are if you want it for the rbg the color profile seems to be off, so if you have other devices you have rgb with, certain colors will be off which you can see in many reviews.
I bought these fans years ago and they still are going strong today (almost 3 years) but I agree very much that these use their own property 5pin out and hub which if the hub goes bad then you're out of luck using these fans without buying another hub if still available.

Could even just be that 3 years ago they were getting their components from a different supplier who had a slightly different manufacturing process?

Nah, just figure out what the pins are and pin them to a standard header. Actually bought the stuff to do mine but the controllers have been rock solid so never repinned them.

I installed these exact fans and control them through gigabyte software on computer. Also bought another generic fan to add to the back of my case and just cut the wires off the connector ends and works as well. Definitely didn't need to use the controller on my Motherboard and can control everything.
