That's interesting. Where did yours come from? Mine came from a warehouse in Indiana, and it came charged and with the Feb 2023 Security update already applied...

I wonder if some other warehouses have older stock...
Mine also came from the Indiana warehouse and didn't have any security patches on it. Mine also doesn't seem to be getting the 13 update. It says I'm up to date at the 41-4-4 patch level.

I don't think anybody has gotten the Android 13 yet. If they did believe me they'd be the first to post here

Why Visible out of curiosity? Why didn't you just use the $40 plan that you already paid for for the month and then drop down to Boost's $25 plan?
Visible has unlimited everything...even tether. Very useful for my tablet and steam deck.

this is a little tempting. swappa shows my oldass 8t still fetches 200+ somehow (granted count on 150 after fees/shipping). so it could be a near free upgrade.

only thing that bothers me a little is downgrading from 12gb ram in my 8t to 8gb here.

phones are so boring now lol. using phone size compare the edge plus 2023 is a little bigger than my 8t, which i like. when you pick up a s23 ultra what strikes you is the gigantic size. hopefully this can replicate that.
This is more an S22 plus comparable (minus the telephoto lens - which was a stupid thing to not include). While the 8T is a solid phone, this is still a two generation upgrade with double the storage, albeit with 33% less RAM. Your apps will restart more often.

Ordered this phone and received it after 3 days.

Installed 3 security updates. Latest 1 Feb 2023. Came with a "cloud app" that installed some bloatware but was able to just uninstall normally.

Unlocked from eBay, took about 15 minutes to receive the code.

Works well with a T-Mobile sim.

I'm gonna buy this for my mom. Do the ebay unlock so she can use on her carrier. My question is, can I use the sim card (1 month plan) in different phone? Mainly want to use the data.

Yes inserted the boost sim multiple times. I actually think the cloud app was installed after I put in the boost sim.

Used Dr unlock for the unlock code on eBay.

3 day shipping to NYC.

Yes works very well on my OnePlus 9 pro.

.....The current promo is for existing Fi customers. You should be able to activate Fi with a BYOD sim and then order the S23 for $600. Keep service for 120 days otherwise they will claw back the discount. The phone is unlocked an can be used on any carried from day 1. Just don't put the Fi SIM in any other phone. Fi even has a counter on their website that shows how many more days you need to keep the service active to earn the promotion.

...My S22 Ultra 256GB has been the best phone I have owned. Zero issues with any "bloatware" etc. And having a Samsung phone has (literally) paid off in the form of multiple $25+ gift cards they have handed out over the years (most recently got two $30 Atom codes, and two $25 gift cards to the Microsoft Store). The only thing I don't care about is Bixby, but it is easy to disable it now.

In terms of the Fi "nonsense". It's not that hard at all, and us SDers have taken on far more difficult challenges. Lol. But yes, you appetite for that may be different from mine. The Fi phone is unlocked from day 1 and you can use it anywhere. No need to unlock it. It is better than a lot of these locked phone deals as you get a factory unlocked model, and not a carrier specific model that you need to unlock. You just need to keep the $20+tax service activated for 120 days. Just set a reminder on your calendar and you can cancel service with a couple of clicks. That's it...
Can you explain it a little better? Are you saying getting a sim card, NOT using it in any phone... will make you "an existing Fi customer" and then the S3 Ultra promo will show up and you can order it for $600 + 4 months of service? Do you need to use Fi sim at all?
Another question about S22 Ultra - any issues with battery? I picked up one from BBY 128gb for $395 after trade-in, haven't opened it yet, wonder how bad the battery really is.
I've been Moto fan since 2016, haven't had Samsungs since then.
Thanks!

You need to be a current Fi customer to be eligible for that deal. So you can get a Fi sim, activate it on an old phone, then a day later order the S23 Ultra. Nothing in the terms excludes that as far as I can tell.

In terms of S22U battery life. I have had zero issues. I never charge my phone more than 85% when I am home (there is a setting for that). When I need longer battery life, I charge to 100%. I am sure there are plenty of phones with better battery life, but I have never felt the need for longer battery life. I am always near a charger at home or in my car. I also carry a battery pack when I travel. The battery life is good enough for my needs. If you work 12 hours a day and are on your phone constantly in bright daylight, the battery life might not be good enough, but I can't think of a single situation besides being caught in an emergency where I need iPhone 14 Pro Max kind of battery life. I also have an S22 that has shorter battery life that I took in a vacation, but I topped it up when in the car or in the hotel, or with a battery pack, so it was never an issue. I did enjoy it's ultra light weight and compact size compared to the bricks that most other phones are (including my S22U).
