I have used them both because my friend reviews tech products for a living and I go over and play with them. This is a much stronger processor. It also supports a desktop mode and the a54 does not. This has a glass build wireless charging and a lot more flagship features.

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.

Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.

The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware

Yes this been going on for awhile in The Feb thread.

Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.

Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Just a little review here. I received the phone on Monday and have been using it since. For $200 this phone is a steal. I am updating from a Oneplus 9 that I got last year on a Slickdeal from Best Buy for $150. The biggest issue I had was that it was only 128gb and the OnePlus 7 I had before was 256gb. This being 512gb takes away any space concerns which were a big problem before. The Snapdragon processor is top of the line and for me the Ready Now is a real game changer. I am able the phone on my desktop during work and now I don't need to use the phone itself at all for most things. It will also be great for using on vacation. I can just plug it into any hotel tv and have a desktop like experience or watch whatever I want from the phone. I was able to unlock it right away from Dr. Unlock on eBay who was recommended in the wiki. I am having the tracfone issue mentioned but I will order a new sim to have it transferred before the month of Boost is over. I also use Google Voice as my primary number so the actual service or phone number doesn't matter. No need to port my number when I switch services. I am no expert with cameras and i'm sure the cameras here will meet my simple needs. Overall this is a great deal to get a top of the line flagship phone at a great price.

many good points.
however to add...

a54 v e+

final price 94 v 205 [not 4x cost...add potential cash back to e+ and its ~ $80 more for e+]
memory 6 v 8
storage 128 v 512
processor exynos 1380? v snapdragon 8th gen

probably forgetting other things
Edge+ is unlockable for $4 to be used with any carrier, and a54 is locked only for Metro, not even T-Mobile can use it. A54 is effectively a dead weight for 6 months.

I bought the a54 from the metro deal to gift my older family members for Christmas. I'd use it myself if it was unlockable, but yeah.

Finally received mine today. Put my Visible sim in and unlocked it with code from desbloquealord on ebay, which I got on the 9th btw. Proceeded to go through the setup screen and transferred old data and files from my old S10 with the cable provided with this new phone. All good to go!

As a note: This phone did not pass the IMEI checker on Visibles site. Nor did my S10. With that said, I activated the Visible sim on the 7th on my "incompatible" S10. And it also works just fine in this "incompatible" Edge+ 2022. Why not use the Boost service? Because $35 Visible+ unlimited everything.

Production date for mine is 6/25/2023 and it was already updated to it's highest A12 patches.
Visible is shutting down old network. They were offering legacy customer free phones. Many posted on reddit receiving Pixel 6A for $49.

I bought Samsung A54 from metro for $95 (three months ago). Once it is unlock I am planning to use on Visible. They're selling A54 on their website, so hopefully it should work.

Visible moved to Verizon core last summer.

Yeah that's what I'm going to do now. Thanks for your response. Unfortunately I already unlocked the phone so don't know if I can even return it back to boost if the issue is the hardware itself.
Unlocking the phone does not void the warranty and does not make you ineligible to return it.... Not that you should, just saying.

I always look at DXOMark as well, but I bought a Pixel 7 Pro last year and was not impressed by it's camera compared to my S22U. In fact, the Pixel's selfie camera was outright horrible. No autofocus, and the photos came out overly processed with an HDR like effect. It's well documented online. It was so bad that I ended up selling my Pixel 7 Pro after a week. Even the rear cameras were definitely not better than my S22U. I started taking DXOMark with a grain of salt after that experience.

The only thing I hate about the S22U's camera (and every Samsung camera after the S8 series) is the terrible shutter lag. Unlike the Pixels, this Moto Edge+, iPhones, etc, Samsungs don't take photos instantaneously after pressing the shutter button. There is always a lag, which makes it hard to time shots.

Other than that, the camera on my S22U is incredible.
When it comes phone camera testing, grading and reviews, DXOmark really knows what they are doing and have special equipment to test. I listen to them because they really hit the nail on the head with their reviews and grading. When it comes to headphone audio, I look at rtings.

What is phone camera shutter lag to you? Waiting a 1/2 second? I haven't tested the Motorola Edge+ 2022 camera shutter speed but I just did with my Motorola G Stylus 5G 2022 and it was fast shutter speed. It is like 1/4 or 1/2 second. I tried it with my Samsung Galaxy A54 5G and it was lil bit slower at like 3/4 second. I had a timer. I never thought of Motorola having slow shutter speed. I just tried my Pixel 6a and it was the fastest of the 3 but I never had an issue waiting under a second for a shutter speed with any of my phones. I love the camera on the Pixel 6a (122 dxomark score). I am not one of those camera freaks though and "need" an expensive $1000 retail flagship phone camera to be happy though. I am perfectly content with mid-range phone cameras.

I fail to see how this is a deal vs the Samsung A54 which has a number of improvements over this Moto. Screen brightness of the A54 goes to 1,000 nits vs 699 on the Moto, A54 has a substantially higher water resistant rating of IP67 vs Moto's IP52 which means not able to survive and immersion), Samsung A54 has 5 years of support while my previous Moto's were 1 or 2. Price on Metro for the A54 is $49.99. So other than a quick unlock and 4x the cost of the Moto, what's the attraction?
I have the Metro Samsung Galaxy A54 5G and going to upgrade from my Pixel 6a soon. Some people will say that it isn't an upgrade. I want the bigger screen though. As for Motorola Edge+ 2022 vs Samsung Galaxy A54, I would say let the operating user interface be a deciding factor and what the phone's pros are what a user is looking for. I can't necessarily say a Pixel 6a is worse than a Galaxy A54 because one user's priorities may be different than mine. He may prefer portability and comfort and the great camera of the Pixel 6a. When one is into Samsung ecosystem like with Samsung Galaxy Buds+, Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, Samsung SmartTag, etc., it brings another aspect in the equation. When it comes to scree size, that is a huge factor to me. Motorola Edge+2022 with 6.7" screen, Samsung Galaxy A54 5G with 6.4" screen and Pixel 6a with 6.1" screen. Apples and oranges when comparing different screen size phones too. Throw in the 6 month waiting aspect some people may have to deal with.

It isn't clear cut with "This phone is better than that phone" by looking at side by side specs on gsmarena.

The S22U will likely have inferior battery, which is generally a strength for Moto. From my experience the Power, Stylus and Edge models have low standby drain. I can't say the same for my S22U. The software experience is clean on the Edge, but they reach EOL way sooner. Longevity, software wise, is a weakness for all Moto models. I use custom ROMs so it's not as important to me.

Trade in or resale value will be greater for a Samsung flagship. From my experience it's hard to sell a Moto for a good price. Build quality will be superior with the S22U by far...

Customer service is a strong point for Moto and I'll give them that. Never had an issue with an RMA, which is done via FedEx to their TX location. Samsung can be a bit iffy with RMA. I had them reject an issue with my Galaxy Buds Live.

Haptics goes to Samsung. The S22U has a pretty good motor in it. Reception is an area I love Moto for. My S22U changes from 5G to LTE often and that bugs me. Whereas my cheaper Moto Stylus 5G (22) stays on 5GUC.

One UI has many features that help with productivity or bring QoL options. With the S22U you have an S Pen, and I use it to draw when I'm away from home. Also very handy for signing documents. Other stuff like floating windows are helpful. Samsung Pay occasionally gives free gift cards like for Atom or Microsoft...I believe Atom was $30 last time. In the past I got many Fortnite skins for free and cars for Asphalt 9.
Thanks for reply. I'm a huge moto fan, switched from S7 Edge to Moto Z2 and used it until TM upgraded to 5g, killing 4g on some towers for my z2. Got Stylus 2022, ok budget phone, but has occasional hiccups and seems slower than 6yr old z2. Main issue with Stylus - Large\Larger font\display size is not large enough... Moto Z2 with smaller screen has larger font sizes. Now got S22Ultra - need to spend time figuring things out Samsung's bloatware vs clean moto with nice addons is the reason I love Moto soo much. Also, from my experience, moto had the best background noise suppression, not sure if it's still the case.. will compare it just for the heck of it Smilie to see if Samsung got better at it... Samsung used to have software button for background noise suppression, which did nothing.. so they removed the button.. Thanks!

Not sure if it is mentioned or not. The phone actually has a trade in value of $300 for BB GC.

(It allows me to select Boost as carrier in Step 1 but only have unlocked option at step 2 and 3. So, could be YMMV aka depending on the employee doing your Trade in)

Google store offered insane values for used phones last year like iPhone XR. Combined with Google Fi, most people got s22U for like 200-300 bucks.
Did people have to stay with Fi for it to work? I want to make sure I don't miss such deal next time Smilie Thanks

Does Boost Mobile blacklist addresses? I've been getting "Payment Declined" over the last couple of days. I've tried different email addresses, phone numbers, and credit cards (including a virtual card specifically for the Boost Mobile store). Went incognito in Chrome, still had the same problem. Contacted Boost via chat, they had the same issue at their end, but didn't have any idea why. Contacted my credit card issuer -- they don't see any declines on their end. About the only constant is my mailing address. I'm running out of ideas for workarounds.

Try virtual card?
