Answers to FAQ:
1. Summary: This is prepaid. No need to cancel. Just stop paying. Most will pay the forced first monthly fee (that comes with initial order) and then simply stop paying. best to use a virtual credit card like from citi for example or a privacy virtual card. initial order cost will be ~150 phone +~40 plan+ ~$15 tax= ~$205. create account on boost or get the app. make sure auto pay is off.
2. Phones are locked to boost,
must provide the seller imei of your phone. send the imei in "message for seller" when u pay.
after u pay, u should get the code back pretty quick. as soon as ~10 minutes.
Then put in a non boost sim. phone will ask for code. enter code u bought from ebay seller. u will be unlocked.
you can find many sellers for $2-4.
search for these seller:
dr.unlock or desbloquealord is quite popular and proven .
[posting direct link violates sd term. dont be lazy. search]
once unlocked, should remain unlocked, even if u run updates, factory restore, etc
the package will have phone and sim in same box. but sim is outside of phone box . No need to ever put in boost sim. infact, if u have no intention of using boost, it is probably a good idea not to insert the boost sim ever. do not sell the boost sim. it has your information on it.
8/19: users reporting ebay sellers that sell unlock code are no longer listed on ebay.
2a. Assuming unlocked. Phone has the bands to communicate with AT&T, T Mobile, and Verizon in the US. Your carrier may need to add the phone's IMEI number to their database before it can interface with the mobile towers.
5. after u place the order. in 2 days, the sim card will auto activate. while in transit to you. many folks are upset because this makes u loose 2-3 days while the phone comes to you. shipping time varies. some in CA take 1 week from order date to receive day. in east coast it may be as short as 1 day. once the item is shipped. u can create a account using computer. then get the app on a spare phone. login. then u can see the exact imei they are sending you.
6. Boost, Ting, and Dish TV are now one company. so do not need to unlock if using them
7. only 1 order per email address. if u want more. need new account w new email addy
8. after unlocking.

good summary :
When ordering from Boost, the choices are getting a new number or keep old number. Should you choose getting a new number, Boost will ship the sim and phone pre-activated meaning you will lose service days when the item is in transit. So for people who want to get a full month of service, they will select keep old number but then go through setup for activation. During this setup, the user can choose either a new number or keep old number.
In order to transfer your At&t number to Boost, you would have to give Boost your At&t phone number, account number, and pin number. If you did that, then the process of number transfer has started. If you did not give that information to Boost, it would be impossible to have your number ported.
Even if you selected keep old number during the order process and chose not to activate the sim, Boost will likely activate the sim eventually. If you selected the keep number option at ordering and have no intention of activating the sim, it might be a good idea to keep monitoring the status of the sim in case it gets activated.
Also be aware that by default Boost enables autopay. Metro for instance has autopay disabled by default.
Activating the sim + disabling autopay is what I would suggest rather than just discarding the sim or trying to cancel the service.
Autopay status can be seen in 2 places. One is on the boostmobile.com site. The other is in the Boost One app. Disabling it in either place is fine.
Be aware that should you disable autopay and then decide to replace the payment method with a different card (like one with a low balance), Boost will re-enable autopay. Whenever there is a change in payment method, autopay will be re-enabled
PSA: Extra 21 dollars back at Boost on Capital one Cards YMMV

Major benefit to the a54 is that it's going to be updated for a lot longer.a54 we'll get Android 13 and 14 and 15 and this will probably just get Android 14. And it won't get security patches for as long.
Personally I would go with the Motorola but if I was recommending a phone to a casual user like my mom or my sister I might lean with the a54 just cuz it'll be secure for a longer period of time and they probably wouldn't make use of the flagship features like the desktop mode or the stylus.
The Motorola also has stylus support with an external stylus you can buy, an amazing desktop mode with a dock. Definitely a more premium piece of hardware
Was thinking of getting one but
Slow Moto Android upgrades, no dual sim, avg cam, large size stopped me.
Was going to get it for $50 with in store port in...but boost stores charge MSRP tax, activation fees, and higher plan... Similar to metro stores...so I didn't go that route.

Now the phone has:
Android 13 with June 1, 23 security update, and updated baseband & kernel. The only thing is that the software channel remains as "DISH Wireless" so I may have broken OTA. However, given that the phone was still on Android 12 firmware from January, it doesn't seem like a great loss. I can always update it manually later on. Everything works perfectly, and I think I gained a setting called "Performance" under the System Menu.
don't ask how to flash, there are guides on XDA and other resources
and yes you will lose OTA updates after cross-flash and would need to update manually

Anyone else having issues with the BoostOne app in the past few days earning Boost coins? It keeps telling me I've done my ads for the day only after watching exactly 5 ads.
Did I miss a message or talk and maybe they changed the amount of ads to watch from the previously allowed 25 ads per day?
Can anyone confirm if they are able to watch/earn more than 5 ad credits?
That is absurd to compare Ford Pinto to a Mercedes to phones. Beyond ridiculous. Listen to Marquees Brownlee who knows way more about phones than you. He stated that the gap between flagship and mid-range phone is so small and way smaller than a budget vs mid-range. He is 100% right and you are 100% wrong if you think otherwise. I am laughing at how you disagree with Marquees Brownlee and think you know more than him. "But but but why does he is flagship phones over mid-range phones?".... He uses flagship phones because he is a big time phone reviewer who is super rich too. Ha. He pays retail too. He doesn't care about value or deals. I do care about value.
You say you find a difference in daily use but never bring up anything significant but "boot up time". "I am not even a power user" but you use a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. What does that mean? HAHA! Look how fast a phone boots up! HAHA. Who cares?! How many times do you boot up a phone in a day? I can't even remember the last time I booted up my daily driver. God forbid that someone waits extra seconds longer to boot up. Nobody cares about some extra seconds faster bootup. My Pixel 6a boots up in 10 seconds, Samsung Galaxy A54 5G boots up in 30 seconds. Motorola G Stylus 5G 2022 boots up in 25 seconds. Who cares? Does your Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra open up apps 2 second faster than mid-ranges. NO WAY.
Wireless charging is useless to me when a wired connection delivers faster speed. Did you know that wireless charging isn't really wireless charging when the "wireless" charging dock has a wire? The wireless charging dock takes more space than just a cord charger too. I always laugh at this wireless charging argument. Slower, takes more space and also has a wire. I have wireless charging devices and phones and a dock. I don't use that feature. Real wireless charging is a charging without any wire. OTA.
When the flagship users want to bring up "Hey. Look at how beautiful the material is. I want to show it off to others."..... I bring up that I pretty much use a Spigen case on all my phones so "showing off" isn't a priority to me. I care more about protection than showing off. Did you know that glass can easily shatter and crack? Did you know aluminum can dent easier? If a phone comes with glass rear material, plastic or aluminum, it really doesn't matter to me once a put on a Spigen case. Without a case, phone are at risk to being damaged and they will be slippery too.
I have a Pixel 6a with the Tensor chip and you have a Pixel 7 with the Tensor 2. The performance of the pixel 6a (705k) isn't that far off from the Pixel 7 (768K antutu). There is nothing wrong with their performance. They are fast and snappy but so are the mid-ranges. Do you want to talk about battery life? There is always a price paid for powerful processor and the Pixel 6a and 7 battery life isn't good. Some people would have a higher priority with battery life than "Hey look at the extra seconds I saved on the booting up screen.".
Am I saying that the Motorola Edge+ 2022 with its powerful flagship processor is bad or isn't powerful? Absolutely not. Am I saying that this Edge+2022 deal is bad? Absolutely not. I am saying performance and camera quality performance can be overrated to me when it comes to real world use. I say that as a Pixel 6a (close to a Pixel 7 performance) user which has a really good processor and a great camera. People need to look at other aspects beyond powerful processor. I know the Pixel 6a isn't a flagship model but to me it is a flagship processor that suffers from bad battery life. That matters to me.
But slickdeals pricing is $150-350 for flagships(I got s22 ultra last year for $350, Pixel 7 for $150 both unlocked immediately)
vs
$100-150 for midrange (Pixel 6a or A54 is around $95 at Metro with a 6 month wait).
Considering these prices flagships and no wait is a non brainer.
Even if you don't want to compare Ford Pinto to S class how about comparing Accord to S class. Wouldn't you say that's a fair comparison. Now sure at their retail pricing of 30k vs 100k one can argue for the accord.
But if the accord was available for 10-15k and the s class for 20-25k then the value proposition shifts in s class favor.
To make it fair let's throw in an restriction after buying you had to leave the accord parked for 6 months vs being able to use the s class immediately..

I found the Reddit threads and it seems the ads have been reduced to 5 ads per day… so the average earn each month will only be $10-$13.
Not enough to fully pay for the $25 unlimited plan anymore.
