Very unlikely your laptop screen is display input capable. You'd have to use this computer standalone in addition to the laptop and RDP into it or something. You'd be better off just buying a nicer portable monitor also if that was your planned setup.

I cant wait for the 6000 series stuff to get to these price points cause the iGPU on those are crazy powerful for their efficiency. MiniPCs are getting super good value.

Wow, yeah that sounds like a bit of a mistake with the $100 coupon on the seller's end. Great deal. I didn't start looking at all the minis until day 2 of prime. At which time I wasn't convinced any of them were really a deal compared to normal, but it does seem in general they were a little cheaper than what I've seen since. Yet to receive my SER5 Pro, so still keeping my eye out for anything better/cheaper.

I have an old HTPC I built 10 years ago that cannot handle x265 videos. I feel like this (mini PC) is by far the best decision for replacing it. I don't think I need the Intel transcoding, so may pull the trigger on this and getting something to house 4 hardrives (with about 25tbs of space) with all my movies and tv shows

Honestly I would go with beelink, they are widely considered to be better quality of build and better support as far as warranty and drivers. SD is pushing ACEMAGICIAN hard, there is avreason why they are paying for that instead of drawing customers from their products and word of mouth. ACEMAGICIAN isn't garbage but they also aren't great

Really? Lowest I saw was the Trigkey 5800H for $300. I've been tracking the Ser5 Pro and never saw it that low
The difference I noticed (I have trigkey, minis, ace, and beelink) for clusters is the SER5/pro uses legit crucial RAM and SSD. The others use NZW generic parts. So to me its worth a few shekels for name brand RAM and SSD. I literally threw the SSD out, and upgraded so in retrospect I should have just bought the beelink.

Anyways the SER5 pro is an excellent box. Replaced a NUC for the daughter the thing is rocket fast and will last her years.

These minipc are a boon for my kubernetes clusters. 3 of them barely 30W.

My new DD is a minisforum NPB7 which all in was around $550 and used it to replace my m2 pro mac mini and it is faster than it (which cost $1300). The thing drives my 3 4k displays no problem. Of course YMMV on O/S but since many of the apps I use prefer windows, I sucked it up and the extra cash financed my kube cluster of N100 procs.

So, funny story… I have never heard of this brand before but I saw a a thread about what looked like a pretty nice mini PC yesterday. I went to their site and actually went ahead and added it to my cart, and started checking out, but before I finished I decided to sleep on it before making a decision.

I woke up this morning and got an expected email "Your Unfinished Order" trying to convince me to complete the purchase. Well apparently there's 20 or so other people who did this because the email I received is addressed to all of our personal emails and visible to all recipients.

So I gave them my email for 5 mins (figuratively speaking) and they already compromising my privacy. Not sure if I trust em with my money now lol.

I really am. I wanted the ser6 pro but was waiting for sub $400. The ser5 pro wasn't my first option but for $219 I just couldn't pass it up. It's super snappy but I haven't tried any real games on it but I have been cloud gaming with game pass and it's been flawless

Are these Mini PCs actually good? I've seen a few on Amazon and they seem solid spec-wise but at a fraction of the price. Are there any issues with overheating or issues like that? I need a new PC for graphic design and one of these could be the answer.

Wonder if I can get this and use my laptop as the main display + it's keyboard? Would basically be a egpu for my weak laptop when I'm traveling. portable enough to bring along and setup in the hotel.
Couldn't you plug these into the TV in the hotel room?

Same for me. They appear to be the exact same item and resulting price, right?

It wholly depends on which kind of laptop you have and how flexible you are. Windows natively allows casting to a laptop screen on many devices ("Projecting to this PC"), but you'd have to likely boot into another display first as you power on the mini.

I'd say that could be accomplished by bringing your laptop + a portable monitor that could be plugged first into the mini to boot up, then connecting portable screen to the laptop once you've casted into the laptop (to use as an additional screen).

why choose 5800U when 5800H is the same price at 300.
