Stay away from Lyca. No customer support. They do not give your PIN and account number when you want to move to a different provider

Eff all that porting hassle - use Google Voice & never have to deal with it again. Get a new number for each new deal, update the number in the app, & done.

Last time I brought sim and services from their website. Never received the sim. Back and force emails for 2 months. Have to call credit card to dispute.

Interestingly enough, that's actually how I found out about these plans - they were offered as a retention play when I called the Spanish-language line for port out details.

Honestly, I'd start looking for a similar deal about 4.5 months in - Mint usually has something similar; their current promo is for three months right now.
Any suggestions towards an alternative of Mint ?

so would it be a good idea to ask for the pin and account number during the first 1-2 months of service?

I've gotten port out details three times, and ported out twice.

Never had an issue getting port out details via phone. Only trouble I've ever had is via chat due to connection issues.

Scam company, never port in a number you intend to keep because they make the process nearly impossible to port it out again

You will be just wasting your time. Read reviews for this company, BBB complaints etc

I had ordered the same deal 2 days ago. Sim was shipped today via FedEx 2 day and is in transit
Upon activation and registration, ensure that you make note of your customer identification pin (cip) and the puk code from the sim card. Just take a picture of the Sim card. You will need this cip and puk code information, along with your registered name, address, phone, birth date and 2 or 3 most dialed or texted numbers, whenever you want to port out
need birthdate to port out? That's ridiculous!

They get it from you when you create the account, I assume (I haven't used them yet so not speaking from experience, but it's the only way that I can think of them getting it to begin with). I always use a fake birthday for those who have no need to know the real one. I use December 31 of the year before my actual birth - close enough for actual age metrics, but not enough to be a security risk. If called out on it, I can just say "oh, yeah - I forgot I'm a year older now." 🤷

This company has been around for quite some time, so I doubt they're a scam. They've never quite had a good enough deal for me to use them, but I've come close before. As I understand it, they're a well-established European company, and they've just never quite figured out the American market - although they've been trying for over a decade now.

You KNOW a phone company has been around for a good while when they have *this* in their list of FAQs:

Quote from FAQ :
Does Lyca Mobile offer blackberry plans/will blackberry messenger (BBM) work with my Lyca Mobile?"
🤣🤣🤣
