I dislike touchscreens on laptops (I know personal preference), so would have preferred the lighter non touchscreen version. Touchscreens also add to power consumption and can have reduced display quality compared to non-touchscreen versions.
The cheapest device I've seen in person was a Dell XPS for $1050 at Best Buy. Plus, that one didn't have a HDMI.
Basically looking to learn more of the advanced features of those tools.
Looking for something with good battery life, lightweight, powerful, and will last me between 3-5 years from now without going above $800.
Thanks!

If you don't need the touchscreen, XPG Xenia 14 can be had for less than 600 and has 16gb upgradeable easily to 32gb and weighs about the same as this laptop. Not sure about battery life.

Originally, I wanted a touchscreen, so I managed to cop one of the following:

Got it for $580. The challenge I run into it is the Wi-Fi chip is finicky, the fingerprint sensor doesn't work well, and the display isn't all that great.
If I had the option to buy that HP Omen for $750 from Best Buy, I'd gone with that. A touchscreen isn't a make/break anymore for me. I rather get a 144 Hz display and discrete graphics than a touchscreen.

The Dell Inspiron 16 is like 4.1 lbs, which is pretty reasonable for a 16 inch display IMO.
I'd say the most important things to me are: Ryzen 7/i7 level processor, 16gb RAM, 512gb or larger SSD, good battery life (about 10 hrs), a good display, and a reliable brand.
The really nice to haves would be things like a 144Hz display with a Nvidia chip. But that's not as feasible without spending upwards of $1k.
I wish the Surface Pro 9 series was more affordable because I don't think their form factor and i5 processor are worth $1k from Costco at this point for the way better display, the form factor, etc?
